NEW FACILITIES IN OPERATION - A new high-speed dumping and receiving pit was opened for
use this week at Cook's Division of Gerbro Corp. , in Hensall. The new pit will handle beans at the
rate of 4, 000 bushels per hour, as a push button operation, and this should eliminate lengthy waits
for truckers. Any size truck up to 60 feet long can be handled on the new hydraulic dump, and it
takes only 15 minutes or less to unload the largest trucks,

Pick Good Type
Of Corn For
Best Freezing
To obtain high quality frozen
corn kernels or corn on the cob,
select corn at the correct stage
of maturity. Home economists,
College of Family and Consumer
Studies, University of Guelph,
recommend choosing young tender
ears that appear ready for table
use.
Busk and sort them, discarding
any immature ears with under-
sized kernels with watery milk, or
overmature ears with tough kern-
els with a thick milk that does not
spurt out when the kernel is rupt-
ured by the thumb nail.
When buying at a roadside
market, avoid any cobs that have
been sitting in rhe hot sun all
day. The best quality corn comes
directly from the field to you
within a few hours.
