50 Years Ago
AUGUST, 1920
Mr. Frank Siebert left for Det-
roit on Tuesday morning.
Mr. and Mrs, 1, Preeter left on
Monday morning for an extended
trip to St, Catharines, Niagara
Falls, and other eastern points.
Owing to the continues increase
in the prices of materials used in
the barbering business, the prices
of haircuts in Zurich, Dashwood
and Crediton have been raised,
Mr. Henry (Tallman brought to
Zurich a stalk of corn which mea-
sured 12 feet 5 inches high. The
corn was grown on the farm of
his father, Jacob Gallman, on the
Goshen Line, north of Zurich.
Miss Olive O'Brien spent the
past weekend in Hensall.

AUGUST, 1930
On August 8, a number of
people gathered at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Klbpp in
honor *of Rev. and Mrs. II. Rembe
and family, of Winnipeg, and
who were here on their vacation,
and presented the pastor with a
gold cross.

friends at Pigeon, Michigan, and
are also taking in the big Evang-
elical Camp Meeting at Bay Shore,
Sebawing, Michigan.
The other day while Archie
Rowcliffe was unloading oats with
a sling, the whipple-tree broke
and the sling carte back with such
force as to inflict serious wounds
to his stomach, Ile was taken to
Seaforth I lospital where he was
operated on and is doing as well
as can be expected,
25 Years Ago
Dr, and Mrs. 11 I1. Cowan and
fancily had their household effects
moved to Exeter last week, and
the belongings of Mr. and Mrs.
E. M, r)agg are expected to arrive
in a day or two, occupy the house
which the Cowan's vacated.
Mrs. Edith Clarke, of Florida,
and Mrs. Clara Grey, of London,
spent the weekend at the home
of Mr, and Mrs, I lenry Brown on
the 14th concession,
Mrs. Mina Finlin, of Winnipeg
who has been visiting with Miss
Ethel Williams for the past few
weeks, has left for a short visit
witic friends' in Toronto,
The rebuilding of the home of
Ed Beaver is now completed and
adds greatly to rhe appearance of
the west end of the village.
The eight children of Robert
Geiger, of Crediton, who were
all operated on to have their ton-
sils removed are getting along
quite well.
Mr. and Mrs, Vernon Schatz
of Dashwood, are spending their
vacation in Detroit.
15 Years Ago
A large gathering took place
last Thursday evening on the ]oc al
baseball diamond when rhe ])ash -
wood Tigers were over and played
the local Zurich Lumber Kings.
The fifth annual reunion of the
Kalbfleisch Family was held on
Sunday, August 14, with approx-
imately 120 persons in attendance.
Miss Inez Yungblur motored to
New Ilamburg on Saturday.
Ivlr, and Nirs. Jerome Dietrich
were visitors to London one day
last week.
Sharon and Elaine I lugill spent
a week in Londong bringing back
with them Nancy and Laird 'Thiel.
Rev. and Mrs. O. Winter spent
a day in London the past week.
Mrs. Leroy Thiel and her child -
en spent a few days visiting her
parents at London.
Mrs, Melizza Geiger and son
Clare were last Thursday in Kitch-
:ner, where they visited their
cousin, Mr. Percy Weido at the
K -W hospital.

After not working for rhe past
two years, the clock in the steeple
of the Lutheran Church in Zurich,
is back in operating condition.
A farewell party for Miss Martha
Corriveau, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs, Rudolph Corriveau, R. R,1,
Zurich, who is leaving shortly to
attend school at Mount St. Joseph
in London, was held at the Com-
munity Centre, on Saturday, Aug-
ust 13.
Mr. and Mrs. Tames Parkins
and fancily are holidaying in the
northern parts of Ontario this week
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar lluhman,
Gary, Linda and Carol, of Gary,
indianna, holidayed with Mr,
and Mrs. Tack Turkheinc and
family this past week,

home in Zurich after spending a
week in Guelph with his aunt and
uncle,
Mrs, Eric Shale entertained a
number of friends at a shower for
Miss lean Denomme, who is to
be married shortly.

Hold Meetings
In Toronto

attended the 52nd annual meeting
of the 34, 000 -member Federation
of Women Teachers' Associations
of Ontario at the Royal York Hotel
