Charlies, Gingerichs, Bluewater
Win Games in Rec League Ball
CHARLIE'S SWAMP LEFTOVERS
Charlie's Auto Sales recorded
their fourth win of the season by
completely man -handling the
Leftovers and came up with 28
runs. The Leftovers managed
only two runs, both in the last
inning, Terry Rader and Kevin
McKinnon shared the pitching
chores for Charlies, Rader allow-
ed only four base runners through
the first four innings. Two hits
and one error allowed the Left-
overs to score in the seventh, Ron
Corriveau and Rick Schilbe led
the hitting parade for Charlie's.
Corriveau slugged out three triples
two with the bases filled. Dave
Stark and Gary Flaxbard chipped
in with three hits apiece while
Pete Regier and Rick Turkheim
knocked out two hits each and
Paul Corriveau, Kevin McKinnon
and Doug Stade had single hits.
GINGERICH'S DEFEAT BARBERS
Gingerich's Sales and Service
moved into a first -place tie on
Tuesday night with the Barber
Boys in Zurich Recreation League
softball play. Both teams now
have a 6-2 win -loss record.
Although the Barbers outhit
Gingerich's 9-3, the Gingerich
crew took advantage of the Barb-
er Boys errors and the walks giv-
en up by their pitching staff to
post an 11-7 victory, The big
inning for the winning team was
the second as they sent six runs
across the plate and then never
relinquished their lead.
Richard Shantz was the winning
pitcher for Gingerich's, while on
the mound for the Barbers were
Phil Overholt, Shane McKinnon,
and Bob Merner.
John Gascho, Glenn Gascho,
and Rick Shantz each hit safely
once for the winners,
Bob Johnston and Bob Merner
each had two hits for the Barber
Boys, while Aubrey Bedard, Don
O'Brien, Dave McNair, Shane
McKinnon, and George Suplat
had one hit apiece,
BLUEWATER EDGES F. UNION
The Bluewater BP's scored
another victory this past week
with a 12-10 decision over the
Farmer's Union in a close excit-
ing contest Wednesday night, The
Farmer's Union took an early 2-0
lead, then the BP's went ahead
4-2, and at the end of the fifth
frame, the score was tied 5-5.
The Bluewater crew then added

Open Season
The Zurich Minor Athletic
Softball League have opened
their ball season and thus far,
each team have played two
games, The Expos have taken
Don Masse, Paul Steckle and
Willie Overholt all added to the
hitting attack,
Brian Hodgins pitched the BP's
to victory, while Gerald Shantz
worked on the mound for the
rarmer's Union.
