(Citizens News Photo VIMOMMOMMOIMAIIIIMIk Dedicate Colors At Exeter Ceremony New colors of the 161st Batta- ' lion of Huron County were ded I icated in Exeter on Sunday. From among the battalion's 52 'remaining survivors, 26 were on parade with other veterans from . across the county. More than 300 veterans took part in the parade, led by the Royal Canadian Legion Pipe Band of Exeter. Later, more than 200 witness- es1 .the dedication and depositing of the new colors at the altar of Trivitt Anglican Memorial Church Former lieutenant Charles Hall of St. Marys, the battalion's only surviving officer, took the salute as the parade moved away from the legion hall, J, K, Cornish, of Clinton, recalled the Huron battalion's lengthy and impres- sive history from the pulpit at Trivitt Memorial Church. The ladies of the Soldiers' Aid Society of Exeter presented the original colors during a cer- emony in 1916 at Camp Borden. The colors were left in trust of the Huron County sheriff when the battalion was later posted overseas. Following the First World 'War, the battalion's colors were dep- osited in Trivitt Memorial Church for safe- keeping and have remain- ed there ever since.
