FARMERS INVADE BORDENS
An angry crowd of 500 mem-
bers and supporters of the Nat-
ional Farmer's Union converged
on the Ingersoll Borden Company
around 8 o'clock last Friday night,
arriving by car, 12 buses, and
trucks. Some were as far as Essex.
Bags of imported whole milk
powder were split open and the
contents thrown into the plant
pond and strewn about the .grounds
The farmers were protesting
the importation of whole powder-
ed milk from the Republic of
Ireland, claiming that the farm-
ers have a surplus of milk on
their hands which should be used.
O. Roy Knott, Borden Man-
ager, explained to the crowd
that his company had tried with-
out success in 1970 to purchase

trip enjoyed
Forty-one members and
friends of Kippen East Women's
Institute enjoyed a day at the
Bavarian Festival in
Fran kenmuth; Michigan.
In the morning they enjoyed a
conducted tour of a dairy farm,
beef farm and a hog farm.
In the afternoon they visited
the Schnitzelbank wood carving
shop; the Bronners Christmas
display which featured thousands
of Christmas decorations,
animated figurines and Nativity
scenes; Rau's Country Store; gift
and souvenir shops, and flower
gardens.
