Speaks at Service
Guest Minister at Ileumll
United Church Anniversary Ser-
vices Sunday, May 31, was Rev
Robert Passmore, B.A.B.D. S, T.
M., of Owen Sound, a former
Hensall boy who delivered inspir-
ing and challenging messages at
both morning and evening serv-
ices. Splendid congregations
were in attendance the the church
was lovely with early summer
flowers.
Special music, under the dir-
ection of Mrs. John Turkheim,
organist, was rendered by the
senior and junior choirs, assisted
by a male quartette from the
Huronia Male Chorus of Exeter.
They sang several selections,
and there were also trumpet duett;
by Mrs. Berne McKinley and
Stephen Horner, accompanied at
the organ by Mrs. Turkheim.
At the conclusion of the even-
ing service, the UCW served
refreshments. Rev. H.F. Currie
took the services at Owen Sound,
and Mrs, Currie and Carmen ac-
companied him.
Mrs. Dave Morrison, of B.C.
who has been visiting with her
sister, Mrs. Alma Hess, is visit-
ing friends in Durham. Mrs.
Hess, accompanied by Mrs,
Gordon Schwalm, drove her to
Durham and visited with friends
and relatives on the return trip.
Donald MacKinnon, Jr., of
Alvinston, was chosen Cadet of
the year for the 2, 450 Cadet
Corps. Don has been instrumental
in organizing the Alvinston Unit.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Donald MacKinnon Sr., of Al-
vinston, and grandson of Mrs,
Janet MacKinnon, of Hensall.
Don was awarded a trophy.
Congratulations to Thomas
Kyle, a resident of the Blue -
water Rest 1 -tome, Zurich, form-
erly of Hensall, who celebrated
his 91st birthday on Sunday, May
31.
Mrs. Myrtle McLean is a pat-
ient in Victoria Hospital, London,
Mrs. McLean had the misfortune
to slip and fall in her home,
fracturing her leg. She was taken
to the hospital by Westlake
Ambulance Service, Zurich.
Mrs. Gordon Troyer is a pat-
ient in Victoria Hospital, London
where she will undergo surgery.

first Sunday of June at 11 a. m, ,
in Hensall United Church.
HONOR BRIDE
Mrs, Robert A. Moir, of Lond-
on, a recent bride, and the form-
er Jean Doupe, was honored with
a miscellaneous shower held at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Moir, Hensall, on Friday evening
May 29. The home was beaut-
ifully decorated in pink and
white motif. Presentation address
to the guest of honor was read
by Mrs. Harry Moir with the
presentation of many lovely gifts.
Contests were enjoyed and lunch
served. The bride is employed
as an R, N. A. at Victoria Hospital
Relatives attended from Owen
Sound, Teeswater, London, Kirk
ton, Exeter, Seaforth, Hensall.

Floyd McAsh of Hamilton
spent the weekend at the home
of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T.
McAsh,
The UCW will hold their June
meeting on Thursday evening of
this week.
The re -alignment committee
of the Brucefield, Kippen, Varna,
Goshen and Bayfield United
Churches met in Goshen Church
last Monday evening. John Sierts-
eina, of Bayfield, was elected
chairman, The committee will
meet again in September.
Plans are being made to hold
the annual Vacation Bible School
early in July in the United Church
Brownies Fly --up
In Rocket Ship At
HensallCeremony
Amid a galaxy of stars, tour
! Brownies travelled from Brownies
to Guides in a Rocket Ship, while
one Brownie travelled by flying
saucer and space walk.
This modern means of travel
was completed by Brenda Pepper,
Vaila Tait, Brenda Clement,
Linda Elder and Karina Melanson,
when they flew to Guides in a
novel space age ceremony.

earned her All -Round Cord,
The Brownies and Guides were
led in a camp fire by Gail Trav-
ers. A lunch was served by the
Local Association to the many
mothers, Guides and Brownies
present. This concludes Brow-
nie ectivities until September.
