Zurich Citizens News, 1970-05-28, Page 10PAGE TEN ZURICH CITIZENS NEWS THURSDAY, MAY 28, 1970 GRADUATION PICTURES: THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES If someone in your family has a date with a diploma, it's time to think about photographs. Graduation Day is a proud and exciting experience you'll want to remember in pictures. In addition, photographs make it possible for others — friends and relatives, distant ones who couldn't be pres- ent — to share the experience. Whether it's graduation from public or high school, community college or university, it is an event that demands to be re- corded. But it's much more than that. It is people — old friends, roommates, teachers — who may soon fade into yesterdays. These photographs, filled with familiar faces and warm memor- ies, will be treasured most by the graduate in years ahead. How to plan your graduation pictures ? You should begin right now. Let's face it: most of us have missed out on a multitude of pic- ture possibilities. The everyday activities of your family may have gone virtually unrecorded. But with the diploma come changes that will affect your whole way of Iife, and these last precious days before graduation are a last chance to capture this important period. Looking back in years to conte, it will likely be the little things you miss most in life: the sham- poo ritual, the half -awake faces over the breakfast table, raiding the ice box, the "family days". Chances are, the diploma will change all that. A series of these everyday -type shots can provide a good prologue for an album of prints, slide or movie show on your graduate. Then a picture -taking blitz that captures the spirit of the day itself: the graduate getting ready, struggling with a rebellious neck- tie or laying on the makeup; a family portrait; close-ups of the graduate; arrival at the school; the procession; the ceremony if it is outdoors; and a series of candid shots taken around the campus and at the celebration afterwards. If the reception is indoors, you'll want to have a sturdy supply of flashcubes on hand. But remem- ber: flash can be used outside, too, to "fill in" for the sun and remove harsh shadows from your gradu- ate's face. Use plenty of imagination, use plenty of film, and aim for the feeling rather than the facts of the occasion. A close-up of the graduate with diploma will also come in handy for a personalized thank -you card to friends and to relatives. Pose the graduate in cap and gown against an uncluttered school background, wait for a pleasant natural expression, and take the picture. Simply select the prints you like best and tuck them in with regular thank -you notes. The biggest thank you of all, of course, will go to the one who made the memories possible — the thoughtful photographer who took the graduation pictures. 0 Charlies Win Over Bluewater Nine CHARMS 30 - BLUEWATER 12 Charlies soundly thumped the .Bluewater last Wednesday night to gain their second victory of the season against one defeat. ilowever, in the early innings it looked like the Bluewater might upset Charlies as they led 8-2 at one time.
