Located on the main street in the village of Zurich, in a residential area, is a vacagtt building, with wrecked cars and other rubbage around it, as pictured in the photos on this page. It is not a very nice site, especially for any neighbours living in the immediate area. The building itself has not been in use for several years, and the mess has been laying around ever since. Owner of the property lives in Goderich. For several years councils of the village of Zurich have attempted to convince the owner that the mess should be cleaned up, with no avail. The councils have searched in vain for a law which would allow them to order the property cleaned up, but still have not found the answer. Surely, somewhere, there is a law in this country which would assist municipal councils in getting rid of messes such as this. A property like this is not a very nice site for the neighbours, but imagine the impression it must create on people travelling through the village. No doubt they think the residents are back in the horse and buggy days. Steps are now being taken by rhe council of the village of Zurich to see that such situations do not arise again. A special holding by-law has been passed, which can be located in any particular location in the municipality, But the unfortunate part of this is that what is already here still exists, and there is no way to correct the situation. No doubt there are some of our readers who might wish to comment on this particular situation, and perhaps there might even be someone with a concrete plan to correct it. We would enjoy hearing from anyone with their comments, ZURICH Citizens NEWS PRINTED BY SOUTH HURON PUBLISHERS LIMITED, ZURICH HERB TURKHEIM, Publisher Second Class Mail Registration Number 1385 Att % Member: Canadian.
