A number of villagers attend-
ed the Edison Tone- Test Concert
at the Hensall Town Hall last
Tuesday e vening.
A petition to introduce a half -
holiday in the village of Zurich
has again been signed by all the
business men.
The Athletic Club of Zurich
has spent much of its time and
money to build the skating rink
which is now a credit to the
village as well as a source of
pleasure.
Mrs. E, W. Sloskopf left her
home in Kitchener on Monday
morning after spending some
time with her parents Mr. and
Mrs. T. Johnston.
W.F. Braun and L. W, Hoffman
attended the meeting of the
County baseball association in
Clinton on Friday night.
Ferd M. Hess, carriage maker,
has accepted an appointment as
agent of the Overland company
for Zurich and vicinity and will
open a garage in town,
Miss Annie Zeller, Detroit,
is visiting with friends and relat-
ives in this district,

MAY, 1930
Rev. John Strempfer, of Fort
Morgan, Colorado, who was
pastor of St. Peter's Evangelical
church, Zurich, from 1887 to
1894 will preach the German
sermon on Sunday morning.
The trout fishingseason open-
ed on May 1st, ananglers are
reminded that they are allowed
to catch 20 trout a day over 7
inches in length.
The Zurich Public school and
the continuation room, held a
very nice half day's outing on
Friday afternoon, by taking a
walk out to the woods, and the
larger ones went to the Pinery.
The St. Joseph fishery has set
their pound nets and have already
enjoyed a number of fine lifts '
of real fresh fish, which just suit
the taste of all fish lovers.

Johnston motored to London on
Monday on business.

MAY, 1945
Lions Harold Johnston, Earl
Thiel, and Chester Smith, motor-
ed to Petrolia on Monday even-
ing, where they were entertained
by the members of the club in
that town.
In the recent victory loan, the
eighth, the peopld of Zurich and
Hay west, reached the percent-
age of 132.71 of their objective.
They were tenth highest in the
county.
Morris Weber is busy these days
excavating for another cottage
along the lakefront.
Private Russell Tiernan, of
Camp Borden, spent a few days
with his parents in Dashwood
while on a leave.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Flaxbard,
(newlyweds) have returned from
their honeymoon and have taken
up residence in the home owned
by Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gascho.
E.R.A. Harold Stade of the
Royal Canadian Navy, arrived
with his wife from Windsor last
Wednesday, and is spending part
of his leave with his parents.
Ivan Kalbfleisch, Ray Fisher,
and Harold Johnston, motored to
Ripley on Wednesday afternoon
to view a skating rink in that
town.

MAY, 1955
Mrs. Chester L. Smith has
returned from Victoria Hospital,
London, improved in health.
Ian McAllister received his
B. S. A, degree at the recent
graduation ceremonies at the
Ontario Agricultural College.
The public car wash put on by
the local Lions Club on Saturday
afternoon and evening was a
huge success and a steady stream
of cars was lined up all afternoon.
Two carloads of delegates of
St. Peter's Lutheran Church at-
tended a Sunday school convent -

Russell Grainger, R. R. 2,
Zurich, was elected as deputy -
district governor of the Lions
Clubs in Region 3, District A-9,
at the Zone Rally held at Grand
Bend last Wednesday evening.
At a meeting in Mitchell last
Friday night, the schedule for
the Huron -Perth Baseball League
for the corning season was drawn
up.
Miss Olive O'Brien is a patient
in the hospital, and during her
absence from the school in Zur- '
ich her place is being filled by
Mrs. L. W. Hoffman.
Dr. and Mrs. F. Mess, Mr. and
Mrs. Paul Hess, and Mr. and
Mrs. Quimby Mess were Tuesday
in Zurich, also attending the
funeral of their uncle, tie late
George Hess.
Over 200 attended the minor
hockey banquet which was held
last Wednesday night to honor all
the minor hockey players in
Zurich during the past winter.
Eighty people, including ladies
and members and daughters en-
joyed a mother and daughter
banquet last Monday evening
at Zion Lutheran Church, Dash-
wood.

guests present, Collection was
received and prayer offered.
The general meeting will be
on May 25, with Unit I in charge.
Mrs, Tiffin, of Winghatn, will
be guest speaker.
An invitation was accepted to
Brucetield U,C. W. on June 2.
Mrs. Lorne Hay introduced
Donna Forrest, Linda Hay and
Janet Ecker, of Exeter, who led
a lively discussion with everyone
on such topics as religion, educ-
ation and discipline,
Mrs. John Goddard and her
assistants served a tasty lunch.
