J,C, Britton, Northside United Church, Seaforth, united in marriage Brenda Joyce Noakes, of Hensall and John Malcom Holland, of Seaforth, on May 11, 1970. 0 Auxiliary Group Attend Rally The Hensall Legion Ladies Auxiliary attended the Zone C -I Rally at Goderich Legion Hall, Wednesday, May 13, withl2l in attendance, Attending from Hensall branch were Laura Stan, Mona Camp- bell, Iva Reid, Mary Taylor, Cathy Bell, Vera Smale, and Mrs. Ralph Fitzpatrick, 1971 Zone Rally will be held =1E1_1.. Hold Shower For Bride -elect Mrs. John Holland (nee Brenda Noakes), a recent bride, was honored at a miscellaneous show- er held in the Legion Hall Sat- urday evening, May 16, with relatives, neighbours, friends, and members of Hensall Legion Ladies Auxiliary attending. The hall was beautifully dec- orated in pink and white motif. A mock wedding provided enter- tainment for the evening. Presentation address to Brenda was read by Monica Peeble of London. Linda Sangster, Monica Peebles and Bonnie Sangster assis- ted in unwrapping the gifts. A social hour was enjoyed and lunch served. In charge of arrangements were Mrs. Vic Stan, president of Hensall Legion Ladies Auxil- iary, assisted by Marion Sangster, Marion Peebles, Jean Amess (the latter two from London) and several members of the Auxiliary. ZURICH CITIZENS NEWS PAGE THREE Kippen East Women's Institute Entertain Members of 4-H Club The members of Kippen- Toot - ie Fruities' 4-11 Girls Club and mothers were special guests at rhe Hoene Economics meeting of Kippen East Women's Institute, May 14, in the Legion hall, Hen- sall. Mrs. Grant MacLean, con- venor of home economics, had charge of the program which oper ed with a sing -song. Mrs. Al Hoggarrh gave rhe motto, "In this modem electric era, all women have to do to run their home is to keep plugging. " Mrs. MacLean gave a humor- ous reading "When Mother had the Ache, ' Jo -Anne Stoll and Darlene McKay demonstrated the making of a pineapple des- sert and Donna Whitehouse com- mented on fruit juices and a side salad, which were hi -lights of the course "Making rhe most of • fruit. " Mrs. McKay gave a demonst- ration, "On top of the range cookware." giving suggestions on the choice, use and care of pots and pans. Mrs. M. Connolly had charge of a contest. Mrs. Robert Bell, the president, had charge of the business when plans were finalized for the Dist- rict Annual,May 21, and the bus trip to the Bavarian Festival in Frankenmuth on June 17. Mrs. Adams, a new member, was presented with an Institute pin and hand book. Barbara Gem- mell, a recent Provincial Honor, was presented with a gift by Mrs. William Bell, who also presented a gift to the leaders, Mrs. Con- nolly and Mrs. Caldwell. Debbie Consitt and Sharon Finlayson favoured with a piano duet. A special collection for "Pennies For Friendship" was taken, Delegates to the district annual will be Mrs. Robert Bell, Mrs. K. McKay, Mrs. H. Caldwell and Mrs. William Bell. A donation of $25. will be made to the Children's Aid Soc- iety, and $10. to Retarded Child- ren, Mental Health, and Bunny Bundle. 0 About People Guests for the holiday with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snell, were Mr. and Mrs. Don Rigby, Mrs. Bill Knights, Stewart and Jane, Mrs. Jean Manson, Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Laing and Danny, and Stewart McQu een. Hensall Institute Hensall Women's Institute held their Historical Research meeting in the Legion Hall, Wednesday, May 16. President Mrs, James McAllister presided and welcomed the grandmothers who were guests for the evening. Members answered the roll call with "A form of pioneer entertainment." Reports were given by Mrs. Grace Peck on Huronview Auxiliary, and an- nounced that a bazaar and tea will be held at Huronview on June 3. Mrs. Robert Simpson spoke on the Mental and Retarded Ass- ociation. The June meeting will be a dinner at Hensall Hotel. Mrs. Sherritt chaired the pro- gram. Mrs. William Fuss sang a selection of old time favorites, accompanied byMiss Greta Lam- mie. A piano det was given by Mrs. T. Sherritt and Mrs. Grace Harpole; a poem by Mrs. R. Elgie. Mrs. Sweitzer of Exeter narrated and showed lovely slides of her trip to Alaska. Grandmothers who won prozes were Mrs. Monteith, Mrs. R. Simpson, Mrs. Fred Beer, and Mrs. Gordon Schwalm.
