News Along The Shore of Beautiful Lake Huron
Mother's Day is a special day
and it was no exception on the
Blue Water Highway, as many
sons and daughters travelled
home from near and far to cel-
ebrate this day with their moth-
ers and families.
The ideal weather on the
weekend also brought more
people back to their cottages,
many for the first time this sea-
son. The store at St. Joseph
B.P. seemed to be a meeting
place for friends and neighbors
who hadn't seen one another
since last fall and heartily ex-
changed greetings and news of
the past winter.

ted a group of London University
students to brave the cold waters
of the lake and go for a swim.
They informed us that once you
got in and were numb it was
quite enjoyable, but not having
the constitution of polar bears,

We are sorry to report that
Mrs. Madeline Rau, wife of
Charlie Rau is a patient in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London. We
wish her a speedy recovery.
Mrs. Tyrus Stansberry of
Grosse Pointe Michigan, is spend-
ing the week with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs, Fred Ducharme.
Mr. Fred Gratton of Port Blake,
after paying a visit to his sister,
Mrs. Jeanie Hutson, a resident
of the Bluewater Rest Home,
called on Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Ducharme. Also visiting the
senior Ducharmes was Mr. Nel-
son Papineau, who had spent
the weekend in Zurich visiting
his aunt Mrs. Alvina Sararas.
Sister Pricille Therese who
has spent several months caring
for her mother, Mrs. Fred
Ducharme, motored to Chatham
on Sunday last to attend to priv-
ate business.
Visiting their mother, Mrs.
Valerie Cantin were Mr. and Mrs.
Napoleon Cantin and son Robert;
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Brisson and
family, and Mr. and Mrs. Pierre
Cantin, all of Detroit. Mrs. Can -
tin returned to Detroit with her
son Pierre to spend the week.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kuzmick
and family of Brantford, Mr. and
Mrs. Philip Charrette and family
of London, were weekend visitors
at the home of their parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Charrette,
and were joined on Sunday by
Mr. and Mrs. Tony Charrette of
Hensall.
Mr. and Mrs. Tony Regier
and son Tony, of Detroit, spent
the weekendatthe home of Mr.
and Mrs. David Durand.
Mr. and Mrs. Morley Fournier
of London carne to visit Mr. and
Mrs. Edward Corriveau on Sun-
day to celebrate Mother's Day.

Sunday last visitors at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Corriveau
The Corriveaus were also visited
by Mr. Corriveau's brother Jules
of Detroit, who also spent some
time with his other brother
Edward Corriveau.
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Overholt,
of London, visited Mr. Overholt's
mother, Mrs. Beatrice Overholt
and Mrs. Leo Overholt's parents
Mr. and Mrs. Noel Laporte. The
Laportes also had their daughter,
Sister Bernadette, of London, as
a weekend visitor.
At the home of Mrs. Louise
Cantin was her sister Josephine,
daughter, Mrs. Eva Holbrook
and grand -daughter Diane, all
of Michigan. Mrs. Cantin return-
ed to Detroit with them for a
week's visit.
We have some of our summer
visitors too, who were down at
their cottages this past weekend.
At Ducharme Beach were Mr.
and Mrs. Tuffield Ducharrne of
Detroit, Mr, and Mrs. Clayton
Bossenberry and Mr. and Mrs,
Arthur Golding, of London.
Bayview had a good share of
cottagers in residence this week-
' end, including Mr. and Mrs,
Allan Ross, of Toronto, with
their son Brian of Hillsdale Col-
lege, Michigan, and Brian's
girl friend Gia Burnhardt of Roy-
al Oak, Michigan.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Darling
of London were also down for
the weekend with friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Art Gaiser of
Exeter, and daughter Diane of
Kitchener spent the weekend
at their cottage at St. Joseph.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Rose and
son Gary, of Detroit, were at
their cottage near Bayfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Claude Rau and
family of Detroit opened their
cottage at Blake and at Durand
Beach were Mr. and Mrs. Jer-
ome Durand, of London.
Roy V odden Jr., of Drysdale
and Tony Sheppard of Exeter,
ran Tony's 1969 Triumph Bonne-
ville in the open Production
race at Mossport Race Course on
the weekend. Tony, riding with
plate 114 climbed from 10th
starting position to first by the
end of the 5th lap, with a 15
second lead by the end of the 10th
to win the race. The spotty
showers were just enough to make
the track very slipperyand dang-
erous after the second lap.
Three other Bluewater boys
to bring honors home in the
sport of bowling were John Jef-
