Mrs. Ross Jinks was elected to
the office of President of the
Hensall Kinettes, at their meet-
ing at the home of Mrs. William
Clement, last Tuesday evening.
The school concert, which was
presented in the Community
Centre, Zurich, last Wednesday
night, by the pupils of S.S. 2,
10, and 7, Hay, was a decided
success. Proceeds from the con -

cert which amounted to $29.60,
were donated to the Easter Seal
Campaign.
It's a good idea to keep a
score sheet on what is in the
freezer and refrigerator and
what has been used. Shopping
lists are easier to prepare and
fumbling through an assortment
of bowls and packages is avoid-
ed.

MAY, 1920
Mr. Joseph Gascho has taken
over the contract for mail cour-
ier on R.R.1, formerly carried
by Henry Walper. This makes
Mr. Gascho carrier on both No.
1 and No. 2 routes.
A petition is under way to
have a half -holiday every Thurs-
day afternoon during the sum-
mer months.
Peter Corriveau of Drysdale,
made some improvements to the
interior of the Zurich water sup-
ply tank last Thursday afternoon.
E. Bossenberry has recently
purchased the entire roadster
horse, "Great War McKinney."
All lovers of light horses should
take advantage of such a splend-
id bred horse.
A Quebec man complained of
stomach trouble and surgeons
found 40 nails, the handle of an
alarm clock, a button hook and
a small monkey wrench in his
tummy.
L.W. Hoffman and W.F.Braun
attended a county baseball meet-
ing in Clinton last week, when a
league was organized of Goderich
Seeforth, Crediton, Zurich and
Clinton.
40 Years Ago
MAY, 1930
A number from the village
attended the funeral of the late
Clarence Kellerman, at Dash-
wood, on Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. 1. W . Merner,
moved into the living quarters
above their store on Monday,
which will make it very con-
venient indeed for their business.
Mr. and Mrs. George Thiel,
Sr.., Mr. Hugh Thiel, and Mr.
Andrew Thiel were Sunday visit-
ors at the home of Mr. Dan
Thies, of Kitchener, who is on
the sick list.
Mr. Norman Gascho, the
local milk distributor, has good
news for his customers in town,
as beginning May 12th, the milk
will again go back to the old
price of 12 cents a quart.
Wonderful progress has been
made this week at Rose's new
garage, as the concrete work
has been run up to about fifteen
feet high, and with continued
progress will soon be ready to
occupy.

MAY, 1945
George Deichert and Ivan
Kalbfleisch made a business trip
to Toronto last week.
A miscellaneous shower was
held at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Sam Oesch, on the Goshen
line, in honour of their daughter,
Anne, bride -elect.
Zurich is the latest town to
join the ranks of places having
a Lion's Club. The memorable
Charter night was held in Zurich
on May 2, and approximately
300 Lions attended from neigh-
bouring communities. Words of
welcome were given to the group
present , by Lion Albert Kalb-
fleisch.
Mr. and Mrs. Remie Jeffrey
are having their home re -decor-
ated and when completed it will
add much to the appearance of
BeaverTown.
Rev. E. Heimrich delighted th
members of the Zurich Women's
Institute with its inspiring mes-
sage at their May meeting.
V -E Day was observed in both
churches at Dashwood on Tuesday
morning, as large crowds were
present for the occasion. At 2:30
p.m. a large parade was headed
by the Dashwood Memorial Band.

MAY, 1955
Mr. Elgin McKinley, R,R.1,
Zurich, Goshen Line, has been
appointed Returning Officer in
the provincial election for the
riding of Huron, which takes
place on June 9th.
This Wednesday night, May 11,
the Hensall W.I. will entertain
the Kippen East and Zurich In-
stitutes in the Legion Hall, when
Mrs. Middleton of Hensall will
be the main speaker.
Mrs. Pauline Denomme, a
resident of the Drysdale district
all her life, on Sunday, May 1,
observed her 90th birthday.
Rev. and Mrs. Otto Winter
and family, consisting of three
sons have arrived from Winnipeg
Manitoba during the past'week,
and we hope they will enjoy
their stay in Zurich, at the St.
Peter's Lutheran parsonage.
The many friends of Mr. Law-
rence Brisson are pleased to learn
that he has returned from Clint-
on Hospital and will soon resume
his duties as superintendent at
the Kalbfleisch Mills.

MAY, 1960
A. Y. McLean, Seaforth, a
former Member of Parliament
for Huron, was named president
of Huron Liberal Association.
Mrs. Eldon Vanstone received
head injuries when a car driven
by her husband collided with
the rear of a stalled car on High-
way 84, a anile west of Zurich
on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Fleisch-
auer were Sunday visitors in Lon-
don where they attended special
trinity services at Trinity Luther-
an Church, and also a turkey
