Mrs. J.H , Cobb is presently a patient in Kincardine and Dist- rict General Hospital. Weekend visitors at the village and staying at the Albion Hotel were: Wayne Sedgwick, London, Dennis Shobbroolc, Everett Veld- hius, of Galt; Mrs. George Kal- ahzis, Birmingham, Michigan; Mrs. J.E, Kidd, London;and John D. Atkinson of London. Mrs. Ellwood Robinson and Michael Scotchmer attended a Zodiac party held at Mrs. Nor- man Brown's studio in London on Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Gregory and children, London, spent the weekend in the village. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Delier and Kerry of Orangeville spent Sun- day with Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Haw, joining the family for Mother's Day were Mr. and Mrs. Rest Home Auxiliary Meets This month the Ladies Aux- iliary to the Bluewater Rest Home and the residents were favored with selections on the piano and saxaphone by Alfred Denomme and Gerald Geoffrey. The monthly meeting was held on Wednesday evening, May 6, at the Rest Home. Lydia Regier and her commit- tee were in charge of the prog- ram and refreshments. In the business session, it was decided to appear on "Act Fast, " and the group are to tape the show on Saturday, May 30, at 8:15 p.m. Any members of the Auxiliary wishing to go along on the bus is to contact the sec- retary, Mrs. Gerald Gingerich, at 236-4351, as soon as possible. The bus is to leave the Rest Home at 7:00 p.m. on that date, and the group are to meet at 6:45 p.m. in order that they may leave on time. The Rev. Richard E. Martin, from Pinto, Maryland, will be at the Zurich Mennonite Church in a preadhing mission from Sun. day, May 17 to Wednesday, May 20, each evening at 8:00 p.m. Rev. Martin was pastor of Salem Mennonite, Elida, Ohio, for 20 years and is presently pastor of the Pinto church, Pinto, Mary- land. aryland. He has wide experience in the ministry and has preached in churches across America from coast to coast. He serves also as president of Shenandoah Manu- facturing Co., a poultry equip- ment manufacturing plant at Harrisonburg, Virgina. You are invited to share in this ministry during these days. Don Haw and children. Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Parker spent Friday until Sunday with their sons and families in Dor- chester and London. 'Mrs. Jack Fraser of Vancouver was in London last week attend- ing the funeral of her father, the late Mr. W. Hammond. Mrs. Fraser spent Wednesday with relatives and friends in Clinton and Bayfield before returning home on Saturday. The Bayfield Hockey Club and their ladies gathered at the Com- munity Centre on Saturday even- ing for the Club's annual banquet. During the hockey season, they tell me, coach Pat Graham's , hat was used very effectively, only to disappear at the final game. However, following din- ner on Saturday Carl Humphries, on behalf of the club presented Pat with a plaque surmounted by his hat and bearing the inscrip- tion "Pat, the hat, Graham, a swell guy and deserving coach from Bayfield Hockey Club." Mr. and Mrs. Ken Hulls and sons, Michael and Byron of Dut- ton were weekend visitors with the fornter's parents, Mr. and WOMEN'S INSTITUTE The meeting of the Zurich Women's Institute will be at the Hay Township Hall, on May 19, at 8:30 p.m. Theme is ag- riculture with "pollution" as the topic. Jowette is a patient in Clinton Hospital, Guests with Mrs, William Metcalf for the weel'end were: Mr. and Mrs. Ron Parker, of Montreal and Mr. and Mrs. Al- lan Parker of Toronto. Obituary HERBERT Z. DESJARDINE A highly respected citizen.of Zurich for some years, Herbert Zacharias Desjardine passed away in St. Joseph's hospital, London, on Monday, May 11, in his '78th year. He was born in Bad Axe , Michigan, on August 30, 1892, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Zacharias Desjardine. Prior to retiring to the village, Mr. and Mrs. Desjardine farmed on the Babylon Line, Hay Town- ship, A faithful member of the Emmanuel United Church, he served for six years on the board of trustees. Mr. Desjardine was a loyal sports fan, and seldom missed a hockey game in the winter months. During the renovation program at the Zurich Arena, he devoted a great many hours of his time and labour to the proj- ect, and was always willing to help anyone needing assistance. Surviving besides -his wife, the PAGE SEVEN former Ferne Walper, are one son, Elroy, of Zurich; one sister, Cecilia, Mrs, Tom Meyers, of Zurich; two grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Funeral service was held on ' Wednesday, at the Westlake funeral home, Zurich, with interment in the Bronson Line Cemetery. Rev. J. Huether of- ficiated. Pallbearers were Arnold Mern- er, Herb'Neeb, Clarence Schade, Francis Kipper, Frank Dietrich and Oscar Greb.
