Consitt 2364332 Zurich Advisory Panel Helps Clients (by Dora W. Burke, Home Economics branch, Ontario Dep- artment of Agriculture and Food) Did you know that the Better Business Bureau of Metropolitan Toronto operates a Dry Clean- er's Advisory Panel to assist people in settling problems with dry cleaners or launderers and that this service is also available to the people of Ontario who live outside the metropolitan area? Whenever you are dissatisfied with the work done by a cleaner or launderer you should try to clear up the situation with the firm concerned. If you are un- able to get a satisfactory settle- ment, write to the Better Bus- iness Bureau of Metropolitan Toronto statingour case. They will send you a form to fill out and they will also get the other side of the story from the comp- any involved. If necessary they will ask you to send your gar- ment to them for examination. The Dry Cleaner's Advisory Panel is made up of two dry cleaners, two launderers, a tex- tile expert, a member of a mag- azine staff and two people from the Better Business Bureau. The panel meets about once a month to consider the problems accum- ulated in that period. When the panel meets, the garments in question are passed around and each person states his opinion in the case. The panel may find the cleaner, the manufacturer or the cust- omer at fault. Panel members report that the firms involved have never failed to make an appropriate adjustment based on their findings. The next time you get some- thing back from the dry cleaner or laundry in an unsatisfactory condition and the company ra- fuses to do anything about it, write to the Better Business Bur- eau of Metropolitan Toronto, 85 Richmond Street, West, Toronto 102. Give details and ask them to help you.
