TIRED FEET - These four students from St. Mary's School, St. Joseph, completed their walk
from Drysdale to Grand Bend on Sunday afternoon, but before they reached the half -way mark they
had to remove their shoes on account of sore feet. Left to right are Janet Rau, Mary Lou Rau, Marilyn
Ducharme and Cheryl Rau. ,The girls said it was easier walking in their bare feet, anyway.

Lake Huron
Since fishing is such a pop-
ular
o -
ular pastime at this time ofp
year with many residents and
visitors to this area, we thought
we would open this weeks col-
umn with another report on
fishing by Mr. Stanley Smith:
"Commercial pickerel fish-
ing fronting Lambton county
was banned last Friday due to
Mercury Pollution. These pick-
erel are now working,their way
north from the St, Clair river
and should be on my grounds by
late June, July, and August.
The pickerel swim at different
levels of water, seldom on the
bottom and are caught in gill
nets close to the surface. White-
fish and perch are bottom feed-
ers, and seem to stay in the
same area, while the pickerel
moves all over the lower end
of the lake on the Canadian side,
in search of food. If we should
be banned we can still fish
perch and whitefish as these fish
never at anytime have been able
to get into Lake St. Clair, in
order to get the mercury pollut-
ion.
We thank Mr. Smith for his
report and for keeping the read-
ers up to date on the conditions
regarding mercury pollution in
Lake Huron. We were fortunate
in having a delicious pickerel
and trout dinne on the weekend,
compliments of Stan Smith and
it was indeed fare fit for a gour-

YOU NEED SHUR-GAIN
pasture dairy ration
Lush green pastures are high in protein, but
low in carbohydrates and energy, so despite the
fact your cattle were fed well all winter, they
could lose weight if fed only pasture.
Maintain your herd production thoughout the
early growing season with SHUR-GAIN Pas-
ture Dairy Ration. It provides energy lacking
in lush green pastures because SHUR-GAIN
Pasture Dairy Ration is high in carbohydrates.
