In response to a request from the fire chiefs of the three pol- ice villages in the municipality, Stephen township council, last Tuesday night agreed to cover the cost of sending one fireman from each department to a special fire fighting course, The course for Huron County fire brigades will be held in Clinton from June 1 to 5. In making the decision, council included the provision that each Police Village also send one representative to the course. Council also set the fee for the warble fly spraying program for this year. Farmers having their cattle sprayed will be charged 150 per head per spray. These charges will either be collected by the warble fly in- spector at the time of spraying or included on the 1970 tax bil. Bylaw 16 was passed making a few minor changes in the wat- er area at the north-west portion of the township. The water area will include all "property in Ste- phen township on the west side of Highway 21 from the Grand Bend village limits to the Water Resources treatment plant. On the east side of the high- way, the area takes in all land from the GB limites to Highway 83 for a depth of 1, 320 feet. Also included are several prop- erties east on Highway 83. Carl Radford of Crediton ap- peared before council asking for tax considerations for roperty owners in the three Police Vil- lages in the township, HIe was citing the higher taxes being levied against homeowners in Crediton, Dashwood, and Centralia as compared to the residential township rate paid by owners in other built-up areas, including Huron Park, Shipka, Mount Carmel, etc. Tax rates for the three Police Villages are set by the trustees that handle their municipal bus- iness. In other business, council: Named Clerk Wilmar D. Wein as the township's lottery licenc- ing officer. Authorized a grant of $30, to the South Huron Agricultural Society and $44 to members of the Hensall Calf Club from the township. 0 South Huron W1 Meet in Hensall The South Huron District Women's Institute Board of Directors met April 7 in Ilensall Town Hall. The County Rally will be held at Centralia College, October 5 and a curators' work shop will be held in August at St. Thomas. Kippen WI will be host branch for the District Annual which will be in IIensall Presbyterian Church, May 31. Mrs. Delbert Geiger will be the delesate for the Area Con- vention in Stratford this fall. Mrs, Raymond Kading, Mrs. Phil Hern and Mrs. R, Ivo, Peck are County Delegates to the Rally in October.
