Police Investigate 10 Area Accidents

Provincial Constable D.A, La-
mont investigated.
On Tuesday, March 24, a
car operated by Ronald Hannah
of Exeter collided with a car
operated by Claude G. Barr of
Lucan on Algonquin Drive in
Huron Park. Hannah was back-
ing from a driveway and Barr
was proceeding east on Algon-
quin Drive. Damage was est-
imated at $50. Provincial Con-
stable W, G, Glassford invest-
igated.
On Wednesday, March 25,
a car operated by Frederick D.
Webber of Varna collided with
a car operated by Paul Charrette
of R, R.1, Dashwood, on No. 84
Highway at a driveway. Dam-
age was estimated at $850.

Mason investigated.
On Thursday, March 26 a car
operated by Gary Williams of
Windsor lost control on No 4
Highway south of Exeter on ice
and struck three guide posts.
Damage was estimated at $265.

On Friday, March 27, Prov-
incial Constable D.A. Mason
investigated a hit and run ac-
cident on Oxford Street in Hen-
sall in which two parked car
owned by Murray Keys of R.R.3,
Exeter, and Robert Wedge of
Exeter, were. damaged. Damage
was.estimated at $375. The hit
and run car was not located and
the investigation is continuing.
On Friday, March 27, Provin-
cial Constable D.A. Mason
investigated a hit and run ac-
cident on Victoria Street, Cent-
ralia, in which a parked car
owned by Ray W. Cockwill
of Clinton was struck by an un-
known vehicle. Damage was
estimated at $75.
On Saturday, March 28, a
caroperated by John McKenzie
of London struck a sign post at
the ramp at No. 21 Highway
and No. 83 highway while
proceeding north on No. 21
Highway. Damage was estim-
ated at $210. Provincial Const-
able D. A, Mason investigated..
On Saturday, March 28, at
8:00 p.m. a car operated by
Shane P. McKinnon of Zurich
went off No. 2 County Road
north of Zurich and struck a
Hydro pole. McKinnon suffered
a cut over the left eye. Dam-
age was estimated at $950,

Huron County Budget for 1970 Shows
Expenditures in Various Departments

The budget approved by Ilur-
on County Council calls for
$214, 950 for employees salaries,
fringe benefits, travel expenses
and other related fees; equip-
ment and materials and supplies;
rent and janitorial services, as
well as other miscellaneous
expenses such as postage, bank
charges, subscriptions, advert-
ising, staff entertainment, staff
education etc.
As well, the a2proved budget
makes provision :or one new
public health inspector, John
Kerwin, at a salary of $7, 500
with travelling expenses of $1,
800; a registered nurse for the
brush -in. program, $G, 000;
clerical staff for the brush -in
program, 82, 700; travel ex-
penses for this department, $900;
supplies for the brush -in prog-
ram (disposable toothbrushes,
special fluoride past etc.)
$2, 400 fees for doctors assisting
in clinics and at consultation
periods in the high schools,
4,3, 000 plus $200 travel exp-
enses; $=1, 000 for legal fees in
connection with the union neg-
otiations; $2, 000 for the sput-
um cytoloty program, a plan
designed to rest the common
"spit" of heavy, cigarette smok-
ers to detect the presence of
suspicious cells that could lead
to cancer of the lung, while
there is still time to cure it;
and $4, 296 for increased rents
on offices in Wingham and Clin-
ton and janitorial fees totalling
$060 for the two sites.
Monday evening a farewell
party of about forty of the Kip -
pen folk met at the• home of
Mr. and Mrs, Ken McLellan to
honour Mr. and Mrs. Norman
Dickert of Kippen, prior to
their departure for their new
home in Exeter. For an evening
of entertainment, euchre was
played. Toni Reid read the
fpresentation address and Wil-
red Mellis presented the
gift of a lovely table lamp.
Air. and Mrs. Don Rigby of
Blenheim spent Easter with Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Snell. Mr. Stew-
art McQueen litho has been vis-
iting with then returned home
with them.

of Burlington, spent Easter week-
end with Mrs. Pearl Passmore.

their home in Ottawa after spend.

The Kinette Club of Hensall
met at the home of Mrs. Harold
Knight on Wednesday, March 25.
Everyone was reminded of the
annual spring rummage sale to
be held at the arena, Friday,
May 1, at 8:00 p.m. It was
reported that 49 shut-ins were
visited by club members on
Psalm Sunday,
