MARCH, 1920
Mrs. W, F. Beavers, Exeter,
spent a few days in the village
last week.
Sol Jacobe has purchased the
dwelling property and two lots
owned by Mrs. Melick.
A meeting was held in the
Maple Leafe clubrooms last
week of those interested in re-
organizing the brass band in Zur-
ich. F. C. Kalbfleisch was el-
ected president.
Morris Weber disposed of his
residence to Mr. James Meid-
inger, who has recently returned
from the west.
Mr. C. Brill is moving into
the residence he purchased from
Mrs. A. Lehman some time ago.
After 33 years of satisfactory
service in conducting auction
sales in this district, Edward
Bossenberry, the veteran, has
retired from the practice.
N.E. Dahms, who occupied
the residence now owned by E.
Snell, has moved in the flat in
the Hartleib block.
40 Years Ago
MARCH, 1930
Dr. A.J. MacKinnon is leav-
ing to -day, Wednesday, for
New York city, where he intends
to spend a month in Post Grad-
uate Study.
Mr. Norman Gascho, Zurich's
new milk man, commenced his
duties on Monday morning, and
can be seen making his rounds
early in the morning, and a
great convenience it will be to
be able to secure good fresh
milk at his residence almost at
any time. We wish the new
"city dairy" every success.
Mr. George Farwell, who
recently purchased the brick
block from C. Fritz and Son on
Victoria Street, is sure going
to improve the building as he
is taking out all the partitions
in the lower story, also the big
vault, which was put in by the
Sovereign Bank many years ago.
There are a goodly number of
thousand bricks in this vault
alone, and Mr. Farwell will
have a fine show room when
completed.

A•lr. and Mrs. Henry Flaxbard,
who recently had an auction sale
on the farm they sold to Louis
Schrag, on the Babylon Line,
have moved to Zurich.
Richard Masse, Grand Bend,
was badly burned when a coal-
oil can he was holding exploded
as he was lighting a fire, and
he died a few days later in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London. He
was the son of Mr. and Mrs.
James Masse, of St. Joseph.
Private Charles Hay is Hol-
idaying at the home of his par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. William
Hay, in Zurich.
Reuben Goetz, Dashwood,
spent a few days in Toronto
attending the annual fire insur-
ance conventions,
Mrs. George R. Hess, a prom-
inent resident in Hensall, suf-
fered painful burns to her right
arni when aasoline stove she
was lighting burst into flames
and she tried to take it outside.
She was attended by Dr. P. J.
O'Dwyer.

MARCH, 1955
At the public auction sale
of the Estate of the late David
Fuss last Friday the 50 acre
farm which was put on the block
was purchased by Mr. Rollie
Grenier, of Grand Bend.
Mr. and Mrs. Seth Amenns
have arrived from •sunny Florida
where with their cousins had
shortly after the beginning of
the New Year, been sightseeing
and in companionship together
in that beautiful southern coun-
tryOne of the worst storms that
visited these parts was experience
ed on Tuesday afternoon and
evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gingerich,
accompanied by the former's
brother, Mr. and Mrs. Neil
Gingerich and two daughters
returned home on Saturday
afternoon from a month's vac-
ation at Sarasota, Florida.
Mrs. Andrew F. Hess has
returned to her home here in
town, having spent the past few
months at the homes of her
sons and families at Cochrane,
_Ontario, Toronto, and Niagara
Falls.

Ronald Mason, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Gerald Mason fell
last Tuesday night in the barn
and split his head, Fourteen
stitches were required to close
the wound. Dr. Gulens of
Dashwood, attended.
Mrs. Russell Erratt and Mrs.
Walter Eckel were appointed as
delegates to the Presbyterial to
be held in Seaforth.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cantin,
St. Joseph, left on Monday for
Windsor, Detroit, and Flint
where they will visit relatives
for a few weeks before return-
ing to their home in St. Joseph.
Edgar Edighoffer, Pigeon,
Michigan attended the funeral
of his brother, the late Edward
H. Edighoffer, in Zurich, on
Saturday.
Edward Deichert, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Victor Deichert, Zur-
ich has been transferred to the
Bank of Montreal, Scarboro
branch, from the branch he has
been stationed at in Sarnia.

meet 14 nights and eight days.
In addition, several members
of the board attended regional
meetings throughout the prov-
ince.
"This is not exceptionally
out of the ordinary," stated Mr.
Elliott.
He also pointed out that be-
fore and after that 55 minute
meeting to which the Clinton
editor referred, the board spent
two and one half hours in com-
mittee of the whole. As well,
some members spent an hour
drivin=
t� the meeting and an-
other lour driving home.
"It (the editor's comment)
rubs a little the wrong way, "
said Elliott.
