VISIT NEWSPAPER PLANTS - A group of students from St. Boniface School, Zurich, spent
several hours last Wednesday visiting the plant of the Zurich Citizens News and the Goderich
Signal Star, where they viewed the entire process of producing a weekly newspaper, from start to
finish. Some of the group are seen here at the press room in Goderich, watching as the first copies
of the Citizens News carne off the large webb units.
St. Boniface Student Outlines
Details of Trip to Newspaper Plants
(by Diane Smith)
Our grade four and five
classes, and Miss Skinn, of
St. Boniface school, had the
pleasure of visiting the Zurich
Citizens News plant on Wed-
nesday, March 16. We were
instructed by Mr. Turkheim,
and his staff.
We learned many interesting
things. Now we know how much
work and precision goes into
our weekly paper.
After watching the secretary
type on her large I. B , M , type-
writer, we then watched Mr.
Hunt show and explain to us
the working of the linotype
machines. We looked at other
machines including the waxer,
lead melter, Heidelberg and
stapler.
Then we watched Mr. Turk-
heim develop negatives of the
newspaper pages in the dark
room.
In the afternoon we went to
the Goderich Signal Star where
we learned more valuable in-
formation from Mr. Shrier and
his staff. We watched the sealer
being put on the plates for the
finished pages.
The aluminum plates were
then taken to the press. We
watched our Zurich Citizens
News roll off an intricate press.
It was all very thrilling!
We want to thank Mr. Turk-

HERE IS A MAN
who was born in an obscure village,
the child of a peasant woman. He grew
up in another obscure village. He
worked in a carpenter shop until he
was thirty and then for three years he
was an itinerant preacher. He never
wrote a book. He never held an office.
He never owned a home. He never had
a family. He never went to college. He
never put his foot inside a big city. He
miles from the place where He was born. He

still a young man the tide of popular opinion turned against Him.
His friends ran away. One of them denied Him. He was turned over to His
enemies. He went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed to a cross
between two thieves. His executors gambled for the only piece of property
He had on earth while He was dying — and that was His coat. When He was
dead He was taken down and laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a
friend.

far within the mark to say that all the armies that ever marched,
and all the navies that ever were built, and all the parliaments that ever sat
and all the kings that ever reigned, put together have not affected the life of
man upon this earth, as powerfully as has the ONE SOLITARY LIFE
We have a FREE COPY of this Inspirational "One Solitary Life"
