UNITED CHURCH WOMEN
The March meeting of the
United Church ,Women was held
last Thursday evening. Group
three were in charge of devotion:
with Mrs. Ron Taylor leading.
The scripture lesson was read
by Mrs. Ralph Stephenson. An
Easter poem was read by Mrs.
Bev Hill. The offering was
taken up by Mrs. R. Taylor and
dedicated by Mrs. P. Johnston.
A group of seven ladies sang
"The Old Rugged Cross" accom-
panied by Mrs. Bev Hill.
Mrs. John Ostrom introduced
the film "The Long Road"which
showed the work done by the
Board of Home Missions for
the Indians of Northern Manit-
oba. A very interesting and
disturbing true story on"Poverty"
was read by Mrs. William Row-
son.
During the past winter four
quilts were quilted by the mem-
bers. An appreciation night in
the form of a pot -luck supper
will be held in the church base-
ment on April 8. There were
sixty-eight calls made to sick
and shut-ins during the past
month.
Mrs. John Ostrom closed the
meeting with an Indian prayer
and lunch was served by mem-
bers of group four.

At United C'hurc'h
Sunday, March 22, will be
a significant day in the life
and witness of Emmanuel Un-
ited Church, Zurich, when more
than a dozen laymen will be
commissioned as visitors at the
morning worship service, and
in the afternoon will go out to
the homes of the members and
adherents in the community to
tell the story of the Church.
What the local church plans to
do in the coming months in the
church, in the community and
in support of Mission work in
24 countries of the world where
almost 280 United Church
missionaries serve.
The visitors will follow the
scriptural practice and go out
two by two. They will answer
questions and receive the com-
mitment cards on which the
members will have indicated
their service and financial
intentions for the coming year.
