HELP HOCKEY TEAM
Hearing that the Bayfield
Hockey Club were having some
difficulty financially, Mrs. Hop-
son decided to hold an exhibit-
ion of quilt tops which she has
completed this winter. On view
were designs; Evergreen Tree,
Nosegay, Texas Lone Star,
Road to Dublin, Ocean Wave,
Triple Irish Chain, Star of Beth-
lehem, and Pryon's Planes, the
latter quilt top was designed by
her late husband. The sum of
over $30. was turned over to .
the hockey club.

Farm Accidents
Farm accidents in Ontario
have reached epidemic propor-
tions, but too many farmers dis-
regard the need for farm safety
if it means taking time and
effort to keep farms danger -free.
With this two-fisted attack
on the urgent need for adequate
safetymeasures in agriculture
toda, Mr. Norman Bell, Pres-
ident of the Canada Safety Conn(
cil and of the White Motor Com -
pany, gained the full attention
of delegates to the 12th Annual
Farm Safety Conference held
recently at rhe University of
Quelph. Mr. Bell delivered the
keynote address of the Confer-
ence with the theme: "Protect
Our Farms of Tomorrow - Today.
Quoting statistics for 1969,
Mr. Bell noted that out of the
11, 500 accidental deaths across
the country, 200 were caused
by dangerous farm machinery
alone, while the accidental
death rate on the farm is 20%
higher than the nation average.You'll

involve tractors or overturning
machinery. The loss of life,
the permanent and crippling
disabilities, and the economic
setbacks caused through farm
accidents continue to increase,
yet public apathy takes little
notice of the problem.
