Zurich Bantams Win (Clinton Tourney
With Victories in Both Games Played

On Sunday night the Zurich
Bantams travelled to Clinton to
compete in their second game in
Zurich Juveniles
Eliminate Gorrie

Last Wednesday night the
Zurich Juveniles won the third
game in a best -of -five playoffs
series with Gorrie. Zurich had
two wins and one tie going into
the game, as they shut -out
Gorrie 4-0.
Zurich started the scoring
early in the first period with
Ron Oesch setting up Fred Arm-
strong for the first goal. Neither
team managed to come up with
another goal in the first with
both missing several chances.
Early in the second period
Randy Decker banged in the
second goal, with Fred Arrnstrorr
and Aubrey Bedard both drawing
assists, lvlidway through the
same period Shane McKinnon
capitalized on a passing play
from Ray Weido.
The last goal came with three
minutes left in the game, with
Aub Bedard accounting for the
Foal and Fred Armstrong draw-
ing his second assist.
There were a total of 19
penalties called in the game,
with Zurich drawing 11 minors
and one major. Gorrie col-
lected five minors, one major,
and one game misconduct.
Zurich is now playing in the
W .0, A . A , final championship
series against Lions Head.

contest, and won the Bantam E •
series trophy.
Charles Frank of Ilclerton open-
ed the scoring in the first period,
with Gerald Weido scoring his
first of five goals, before the
period ended.
In the second period neither
team was able to come up with
a scoring play with both missing
several chances.

Ilclerton had taken a 4-2 lead
with Brian McNeil and Craig
Gorman scoring for Ilderton and
Gerald Weido his second for
Zurich. Gerald also scored the
third goal with 13111 Bedard
scoring the tying marker, to
force the overtime period.
Within the short five-ininute
overtime period, Gerald Weido
banged in two More goals to
give Zurich their victory and the
trophy.
There were four penalties•
called in the game with Zurich
drawing three and Ilderton one.
FIRST GAME
The Zurich Bantams won their
first game on Friday night as
they trounced Brussels 7-1.
First period scorers for Zurich
were 13111 Bedard and Gerald Weic
were 13111 Bedard and Gerald
Weido each banging in one goal,
with Bills' goal coining forty
seconds into the period.
In the second period of play
Zurich allowed Brussels their
lone goal with Gerald Wheeler
accounting for it.
The last stanza saw Zurich
come alive with Pat Bedard scor-
ing a hat -trick, and singles go-
ing to Bill Bedard and Dan Schi-
lbe.
The only two penalties of the
game went to Zurich.

Juveniles Lose To
Lions Head Crew

On Tuesday night the Zurich
Juveniles were edged by Lions
Head on the first game of the
W, O. A . A . championship series,
by a score of 4-3,
In the first period of play
neither team was able to come
up with any scoring, as goalies
Glenn Gascho and Robert Haisley
turned out every chance.
With 20 seconds gone in the
second period, Shane McKinnon
opened the scoring for Zurich on
a passing play from Ron Des-
jardine. Minutes later Jeff bray
tied the game at 1-1. Midway
through the period John Corriveau
shot Zurich into a short-lived
2-1 lead as Jeff Bray tied the
game. At the 17:32 mark Randy
Decker banged in a pass from
Aub Bedard but before the period
ended Jeff Bray tied the game at
3-3,
The winning goal came at the
11:45 mark of the final Stanza,
scored by 13111 Rylid, and Zurich
,vas unable to come up with a
tieing goal.
