Obituary
ARNOLD JOHN MERNER JR.
A life-long resident of Hay
Township, Arnold (Junior) Mer-
ner passed away in Victoria
Hospital, London, on Saturday,
February 28, in his 40thear.
He had been hospitalizedfor
some time.
Born on June 2, 1930, a son
of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Merner
Sr., he has lived on the Babylon
Line, Hay Township, since his
marriage to the former Elaine
Holmes.
Surviving besides his wife and
parents are two daughters,
Marcia Lyne and Debrah Eliza-
beth, at home; three brothers,
William, of London, Robert,
of Zurich, and Larry, RR3,
Zurich; two sisters, Mrs. Hubert
(Marjorie) Schilbe, Zurich, and
Miss Donna Merner, of London,
England.
The body rested at the West-
lake funeral home, Zurich,
where the funeral service was
held on Tuesday, at 2 p. m.
Interment was made in St.
Peter's Lutheran Cemetery,
Zurich. Rev, A.C. Blackwell
officiated.
Pall bearers were three broth-
ers, Robert, william, and Larry
Merner, Earl Soldan, Roy Clarke
and Bob Forrester. Flower bear-
ers were Ed Schroeder, Frank
Dietrich, Irvin Playfoot and
William Leibold.

the Boyle -Huber wedding at
Wolseley Barracks Chapel,
Saturday, February, 28. The
groom is Mr. Boyle's nephew.
EUCHRE
There were twelve tables in
play at the last euchre sponsored
by the Dashwood W.I. Tuesday,
February 24. Winners were:
ladies' high, Mrs. Homer Russell;
Men's high, Mervyn Tiernan;
ladies low, Mrs. Colin Love;
men's low, Colin Love; lone
hands, Mrs. John Rader.
4-H MEETING
Club no. 2 of the 4-H girls
held their first meeting Tues-
day, February 24 with the lead-
ers, Mrs. I-Ioward Maier and Cora
VanRaay and eleven girls present.
The project is "Featuring Fruit."
The books were distributed and
general discussion on what was
expected of the girls. Officers
are, president, Jane Guenther;
vice-president, Janice Hayter;
secretary, Adrienne VanRaay;
press reporter, Sharon Rader.
Club no. 1 met Saturday,
February 28, with the leaders,
Mrs. Gordon Bender and Mrs.
Stuart Wolfe and 18 girls pres-
ent/ Officers are: president,
Debbie Riddell; vice-president,
Olga Zernitis; secretary, Pat-
ricia Bender; treasurer, Susan

Loops." Discussion was on Can-
ada's Food Guide and why we
eat fruit.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rader,
Jarnes and Dianne of Stratford
accompanied by Mr. and Mrs.
Cecil Herman and Betty Anne
of Shakespeare spent the week-
end with Mrs. Hilda Haugh.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wei -
berg and family of Waterloo
visited with Mrs. Victor Tyler
and family and Fred Weiberg
on the occasion of his 79th
birthday.
Third Meeting

Our third meeting was held
at the home of Mrs. Morris Webb
on March 2. All were present
except one. We opened the •
business with the pledge. We
did our roll call and everyone

The secretary read the minutes
and the president declared the
minutes approved as read, and
Charlene Regier seconded it. We
copied notes. Judy Miller,
Sandra Webb, Loretta Ayotte
and Marilyn Regier made Oven -
Steamed Fruit Pudding. Janet
Webb, Charlene Regier and
Erika Freiter made Fruit Sauce.
The fourth meeting will be
held on March 30 at the home of
Mrs. Morris Webb. '
