She said that after about 15
minutes, she saw smoke coming
from the Carey house.
Mrs. Knee woke her husband
who, along with another neigh-
bour he had aroused, attempted
to enter the house and rescue
the family. The two men were
beaten back by smoke and
flames.
One fireman said that when
he arrived about 5:30, the heat
was so intense it was impossible
to approach the house. Fireman
from the department located at
Huron Park, site of the former
Centralia air force base, brought
the flames under control in
about 30 minutes,
Tje interior of the building
was destroyed. The fire ap-
parently started on a fround
floor in a corner of the front
living room and eventually shot
up through the roof.
Fire Chief Robbie Robichaud
said Robert Kaufman of the
Ontario fire marshall's office
has been brought in to investi-
gate. The chief said it was the
first fatal fire in Huron Park.
Mr. Carey and his wife are
natives of Cape Breton and had

Dashwood Firm
Moves to Centralia
(continued from page 1)
training opportunities for many
of its existing employees and
will provide more employment
in the near future,
Along with the Dashwood and
Centralia locations, the Com-
pany has a branch manufactur-
ing operation in Mt. Brydges,
and branch sales outlets in
Ottawa and Toronto. The
Ottawa sales outlet was estab-
lished in 1968 and the Company's
products have been well received
in this market. The Toronto
Branch was acquired in January
1970 and the Company is hope-
ful of expanding their sales
volume in the Metro area as a
result of the improved service
now possible with the Toronto
Branch.
One of the important additions
at tllc Centralia plant is a half
mile rail siding, which will
allow the Company to receive
and unload lumber from the
West Coast and to load and
ship finished products, all from
their new addition. Until the
siding was completed, the Com-
pany had to handle by truck to
and from local rail stations, all
outgoing and incoming material
handled by rail.
The last thing to be complet-
ed at the Centralia location
will be the Company's new ex-
panded office facilities; which
should be completed within the
next eight weeks. The Company
hopes to have an open house at
the Centralia location some-
time later in the year.
