ZURICH 4 - BELMONT 0 Sparked by the terrific offen- sive effort of John Loader and Bill Stirling, the Dominions played their best hockey of the season on Monday night, in registering their 4-0 shut -out over the Sunsets. Gary Geoffrey, in the Zurich nets, came up with a brilliant performance in his second shut -out of the season, over the same Belmont club. Early in the schedule he blanked them 4- 0, in Belmont. Loader scored one goal and assisted on two others, while Stirling scored twice. Ron Henry banged in the extra mark- er for the Dominions. While Loader and Stirling sparked the attack for the locals, every player on the team came up with an outstanding perform- ance. They skated hard both ways and back -checked furiously whenever the need arose. The defence corps, led by captain Ron Corriveau, played a stal- wart role in the victory and hand- ed out numerous stiff body checks to the opposing forwards. In a hectic first period neither team had any success around the goal even though the locals held a decided edge on play. Bob Bishop, in the Belmont net prov- ed to be a stumbling block when- ever the Dominions closed in on goal. While Russ Wiltsie was serving a tripping penalty for Belmont in the second period, persistence finally paid off for Bill Stirling when he grabbed the puck behind the Sunsets net and carne around the corner to poke the disc be- hind a bewildered Bishop, in goal. This goal really fired up the Zurich crew, and they skated all over the visitors for the'next ten minutes. Finally, at the 15:28 mark John Loader capital- ized on a pass from Ron Corriv- eau and slapped the puck by Bishop again, to give the Domin- ions a comfortable two -goal lead. The locals came on strong again in the third period, and at the 7:16 mark Stirling banged in his second goal of the game, on a neat pass from Loader. From there on they settled back and played a defensive brand of hockey, guarding their goalie for his shutout. With less than two minutes left in the game and John Wiltsie serving a rough- ing penalty for Belmont, Loader and Kevin McKinnon teamed hp on a passing play from centre ice, and they fed the puck to defence - man Ron Henry deep in the Sun- set's end. Henry made no mis- take as he beat Bishop easily with a sizzling drive from the right side. There were a total of 23 penalties handed out in the rugg- ed contest, with 12 of them going to Zurich and 11 to Belmont.
