devotional which was the story
of Abigail- a pacifist in her time.
Mrs. McAllister offered prayer.
Mrs. Alderdice gave a poem
on "Beliefs." Mrs. Eric Luther
sang, accompanied on the piano
by her husband. Miss Joan For-
rest, a recent prize winner in
the gratorical contest sponsored
by the Legion Ladies Auxiliary,
gave her address.
As the theme of this meeting
was "Women in Politics, " Mrs.
Betty Cardno, a member of

guest speaker, She said that you
get a great deal out of any com-
mittee you become involved in
and urged women to get involved,
She was thanked by Mrs. Janes
Drummond.
During the business portion of
the meeting Mrs. J. Drysdale
read the minutes. Mrs. Walter
Spencer gave the treasurer's
report, and Mrs. Lorne Hay re-
ported for friendship and visita-
tion. It was decided to send $25
to Camp Menesetung.
Mrs. Edison Forrest and Mrs.
Harry Hoy took the collection
which was dedicated by the pres-
ident, The meeting closed with
singing "May the good Lord bless
and keep you, " and the Mary
Stewart Collect.

Elect Officials
'W'illiam Antos of Parkhill was
re-elected chairman of the
Ausable River Cpnservarlon
Authority by acclamation at the
annual meeting held at Park-
hill.
At the same time, Elgin
Thompson, Tuckersmith Town-
ship was returned to his post as
vice-chairman on the second
ballot.
Chairnian Amos reported on
the recent hearing in Toronto
regarding the suit brought again-
st the Authority by the general
contractors on the recently con-
cluded Parkhill Dam project. He
said the case would probably
conte before the courts in rhe
fall of this year.
Redfern Construction of
Toronto is suing for $314, 579.90
for extras involved during con-
struction.
Keith Latham of the engineer-
ing firm of Chrysler, Davis and
Jorgensen made a progress report
on the Grand Bend erosion
control program saying one-
half of the gabian basket work
would be completed in the next
two weeks.

meeting were vice-chairman

Obituary
MRS. E.B. HORNER
A life-long resident of this
area, Mrs. Blake Horner passed
away in South Huron Hospital,
Exeter, on Sunday, February 22,
in her 79th year. The former
Dora Catherine Geiger, she was
a daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Moses Geiger. She was
born on June 19, 1891.
Mr. and Mrs, Horner lived on
the 14th concession, Hay Town-
ship, all of their married life.
Her husband pre -deceased her
some years ago. She was a
devoted member of Emmanuel
United Church, Zurich.

Surviving are three sons,
Harold, R. R.,#2 , Zurich, Keith,
R, R, #1 Dashwood, and Robert,
at home; three daughters, Mrs.
Ervin (Greta) Schadge, Dashwood,
Mrs. Jean Witmer, Goderich,
and Mrs. Harrison (Doris) Schoch,
R. R. i2, Zurich, There are also
14 grandchildren and 13 great
grandchildren.
The body rested at the West-
lake funeral home, Zurich,
where the funeral service was
held on Wednesday, February 25,
at 2 p.m. Interment was in the
Emmanual United Church Ceme-
tery, Bronson Line. Rev. J, W.
Huether officiated. Pallbearers
were Earl Horner, Wayne Horner,
Ross Horner, Larry Horner, Jack
Schade and Bill Schade,
