Beverly Beaton, who operates
Bakeshop, is a patient in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London, where
he underwent surgery Monday
of this week. The bakeshop
will be closed from Monday,
February 23, until March 16,
inclusive.
Hein Rooseboom is a patient
in South Huron Hospital, Exeter.
Miss Pauline Bell, of Holiday
on Ice, flew from Orlanda
Florida, last Monday to visit
her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Stewart Bell and Troyann, re-
turning to Mobile Alabama.
While skating in Orlando, she
visited with her cousins, Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Tapp and Miss
Jennie Tapp.

Goshen United Church Women
met at the home of Mrs.
Bruce Keys, Thursday night,
February 19. Mrs. Allan Hayter
opened the meeting and offered
a prayer. A poem "Johnny
Entertains, " was given by Mrs.
Berne McKinley and was very
entertaining.
Mrs. Berne McKinley intro-
duced Mrs. Keith Westlake
and Elaine, who showed slides
on their trip to Zurich, Swit-
zerland, last October. The
pictures were very interesting
Mrs. Elmer Hayter thanked
Mrs. Westlake and Elaine and
presented her with a gift.
"The Urge to Grow" was sung
with Mrs. Berne McKinley at the
Piano.
Business was conducted by
Mrs. Anson McKinley. Min-
utes were read and approved.
Cards of thanks were read from
Mrs. Ethel McBride and Mrs.
Ken Parke. An invitation was
received from Zurich U. C. W,
for April 9, and was accepted.
Mrs. Howard Armstrong gave a
report A letter from Camp
Menestung requests money for
new facilities. Mrs. John
Robinson made a motion to
send $25. to the Camp and
Mrs. Bruce Keys seconded it.
Mrs. Melvin Elliot reported
on buying rnats for the church
entrance.
The m arse committee has
met and a new carpet is wanted,
also the bathroom decorated.
Goshen will share the cost with
Varna. The m eeting closed
with prayer by Mrs. Allan
Hayter.

gift, with Bert Horton doing
the honors.
Mrs. Bruce Moir has returned
home from Victoria Hospital,
where she underwent surgery
on her hand, which is now in a
cast,
Brenda Pepper, 10 -year old
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil
Pepper, and the misfortune of
falling and breaking her right
arm while skating at the local
arena on Saturday afternoon.
Week -end visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. Sim Roobol were Mr.
and Mrs. Ronald VanDvke and
Christana, of Three Rivers,
Quebec, and Mr. and Mrs. Don
Dodds and family of Seaforth.
Charles lvlic;.le, who is
teaching high school in Hamilton
flew to Montreal recently to
spend a week -end with Mr. and
Mrs. Ross Christian and family.
While there, he attended a
stamp exhibition and the hockey
game at the Montreal Forum
Between Detroit Red Wings and
the Canadiens.
Mrs. Harry Horton is confined
to her home with illness.

ORANGE LODGE
South Huron County Orange
Lodge met in Goderich on
Wednesday evening last, with
County Master Wayne Smith of
Hensall in charge. A good
number from each of the nine
lodges in South Huron were
present. An invitation from
Kincardine to celebrate the
Twelfth of July in that town
was accepted.
During the election of officers
for 19'70, Wayne Smith was re-
elected for another year as Coun-
ty Master. Other officers
elected were Past County Master,
Frank Falconer, Clinton; Deputy
Master, Russell Page, Grand
Bend; Chaplain, Alex Hamilton,
Errand Bend; Recording Secretary,
Charles Ruffell, Goderich;
Financial Secretary, John
Henderson, Brucefield; Treasurer,
Ivan McClymont, Varna;
Marshall, Ronald Denham,
Woodham; Assistant Marshall,
Watson Webster, Varna;
First Lecturer, Fred Jamieson,
Woodham; Second Lecturer,
Lloyd Hern, Exeter.
At the close of the meeting
lunch was served by the mem-
bers of L.O.L. 182, Goderich.
Kippen East Women's Institute Hear
Interesting Debate at February Meeting
The February m eeting of
Kippen East W , I, was held in
the Legion Hall, Hensall, Feb-
ruary 18, with Mrs. D. Triebner
and Mrs. D. Brodie acting as
hostesses.
President Mrs. Ken McKay
was in the chair and welcomed
members and guests. Roll call
was answered by nam ing a
Canadian Export and its des-
tination.
Minutes of the last m eeting
were approved. Mrs. Harry
Caldwell gave the treasurer's
report, Mrs. Robert Kinsman
the sunshine report. Family
night, which was postponed
since January, is to be held
Friday night, March 6, in the
Legion Hall, Hensall.
Mrs, Triebner was in the
chair for the following program;
debate, "There are m ore ad-
vantages in being a rural house-
wife than an urban housewife"
was won by the affirmative side.
Mrs. A ld erd ice and Mrs.
Kinsman for the rural ladies,
Mrs. Caldwell and Mrs. Kyle
for the urban ladies. Many
interesting points were given.
Judges were Mrs. J. Chalmers,
Mrs. Mike Connoly and Mrs.
E Whitehouse.
Mrs. Helen Bell, Exeter, gave
a demonstration on make up.
The m otto, "just when you
think you are making both ends
meet, somebody moves the
ends, " was read by Mrs.
Triebner. A piano selection by
Mrs. Ross Broadfoot was enjoyed
by all. Mrs. Robert Bell -gave
courtesy remarks.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Knight,
and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mickle,
attended the Dedication of the
Kinsmen National Institute on
Mental Retardation in Toronto,
on Friday, February 20, They
also attended a dinner and
dance at the Skyline Hotel to
celebrate the 50th anniversary
of the Association of Kinsmens
Clubs. Guest speaker for the
evening was the Rt. Hon. John
Die fenbaker.
ATTEND SERVICE
Hensall Guides and Brownies
and their leaders, ni arking the
diam and Jubilee of Guiding
in Canada, attended service in
the United Church Sunday morn-
ing and were addressed by Rev.
Harold F. Currie. Flowers in
the sanctuary were in loving
mem ory of John Alexander.
HOST TORONTO GROUP
Huron Lodge 224, A.F.&A.M.
played host to Huron and Bruce
Lodge, Toronto, as part of their
100th anniversary which will be
observed in April and May. A
banquet, heldSaturdaynight
in the Legion Hall, Hensall, was
followed by a meeting in the
Lodge Hall when a degree was
exem plified by Huron -Bruce
Lodge, Toronto. Wives of the
Masons were in charge of the
banquet.

Wins Award
Grant Jones of R. R, #k2, Hensall
was named best actor Friday
night for his perform ance in
Cupid's Bow, one of three plays
presented at Seaforth District
High School by Huron County
Junior Farmers.
Nancy Lapp of R.R.#1 Auburn,
was judged best actress for her
role in Beany's Private Eye.
Both plays were presented by
Clinton Junior Farmers.
The other play, Tiger Lily,
was presented by Seaforth Junior
Farm ers.
The cast of Cupid's Bow
received the Merton Keys trophy
for its presentation, judged best
of the three by adjudicators Miss
Eleanor Wilman of Bellville,
Albert Taylor of Galt and Allan
Leitch of Thorndale.

Noble Grand Mrs. Elgin
Thom pson presided for the
regular meeting of Amber
Rebekah Lodge, held Wednes-
day, February 18. It was
announced that they were pleas-
ed with the attendance of the
C.P. & T. euchre held re-
cently, and decided to hold
another on Thursday, March 5.
A num ber of donations have
been handed in for the bake
sale and a cheque for ##41. is
to be forwarded to the winter'
carnival fund, for repairs to
the Arena.

Obituary
ROBERT J, HUDSON
Robert John Hudson, of Huron -
view, formerly of Hensall, died
Saturday, February 21, at Huron -
view, in his 83rd year. His
wife, the former Ida Hislop,
died in 1961.
Surviving are sev,eral nieces
and nephews.
Public funeral service, con-
ducted by Rev. Harold F. ,rrie,
was held on Monday from the
Bonthron Funeral Home, with
burial in Maitland Bank cem-
etery, Seaforth.
Carmel WMS Plan
For Anniversary
The W omens Missionary
Society of Carmel Presbyterian
Church held their meeting in
the Sunday School room, Thurs-
day afternoon, February 19.
President Mrs. R.A. Orr opened
with a poen on Love. Mrs,
Clarence Volland and Mrs.
Gordon Troyer gave the devo-
tional with the theme "On Love"
used.
Mrs. E. Munn contributed a
piano solo. Mrs. Orr gave a
report of the annual Presbyterial
meeting held in Seaforth in
January. Mrs. Orr received a
thank you letter for the knitted
garments that the members and
Home Helpers made this winter
for the under -privileged children
of India.
Discussion took place regard-
ing the W . M , S. 80th anniver-
sary planned for a later date.
Committee appointed were Mrs.
Orr, Mrs, Harry Snell, Mrs.
Harvey Hyde, and Mrs. Pearl
Love.
A letter was read regarding the
Fellowship of the Least Coin;

and Mrs. Orr bad a box in which

one penny a month.
World Day of Prayer will be
held Friday, March 6, at St.
Paul's Aglrcan Church. Next
