Clark Forrest recently grad-
uated from DeVry Institute of
Technology and has accepted
a position with C. K, N. X.
Radio and Television Ltd., Wing -
ham. Clark is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Forrest, Hensall.
Mrs. Howard Swale and five
year old son Paul, are patients
in Clinton Community Hospital,
where they underwent surgery.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoy
attended the funeral of the for-
mer's brother, George Hoy, of
Hensall UC``:'''.
Plan Special Events
UNITED CHURCH WOMEN
The executive of Hensel'
United. Church Women met
Monday afternoon, January 19.
The president, Mrs. Vern Ald-
erdice, chaired the meeting
and minutes of previous meet-
ings were read by the secretary,
Mrs. Jack Drysdale.
It was decided to hold the
general meetings on February 23,
in charge of unit two; May 25,
in charge of Unit One, and
September 28 in charge of Unit
Four. The annual meeting will
be held November 23, and a
special Christmas meeting will
be held December 14.
Other business dealt with was,
"anyone wishing the Observer
for a year will notify the leader
and enclose $3.00." Catering
prices will remain the sante as
last year.
World Day of Prayer will be
• on March 6. It was also,plan-
ned to have "All Fools. 3a •"
supper at the church, Wednesday,
April 1.

A quiet but pretty wedding
was solemnized in Carmel Pres-
byterian Church, Hensall, on
Saturday, January 24, 1970, at
2 p.m. when Linda Gail Reid
became the bride of Donald
Gordon Towton, in a double ring
ceremony before the Rev. W,D.
Jarvis.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr, and Mrs. John N. Reid, Hen-
sall, and the groom's parents
are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Towton,
Exeter,
Miss Sandra Maxwell of Hen-
sall attended the bride and Carl
Towton, St. Marys, was his
brother's groomsman.
The young couple will reside
at R,R,1, Zurich.

Total operating expenses for
Huronview during 1969 were
$771, 027.27 with Huron's share

benefits continue to rise and
account for over 70 percent of
the total expenditure. As of
December 31, 1969, the staff
consisted of 117 full-time em-
ployees and 46 part-time,
Negotiations are continuing
with the International Union of
Operating Engineers for a new
contract, The present contract
expired December 31, 1969.
The committee has offered a
seven percent increase to the
Union but to date it has not been
accepted.

EXPLORERS MEET
The Explorer group met in
the church with the president,
Miss Cathy Taylor, in charge.
The Explorer motto and purpose
was recited. Miss Marianne
Kalbfleisch read the scripture.
Miss Sandra Webster gave the
prayer. Miss Nancy Fawcett read
the minutes and the roll call
was answered by nine members.

program, The Explorer prayer
was repeated and the meeting
was closed by Miss Cathy Tay-
lor.
On Wednesday evening the Ex-
plorers held a skating party at
the local arena and after an
hour skating, they were treated
to a bountiful lunch in the Or-
ange Hall, by their leaders,
Mrs. Robert Taylor and Mrs.
Barry Taylor,
Rev. Murdock Morrison re-
turned home last week after a
stay in Victoria Hospital, Lon-
don. Rev. Lloyd Kalbfleisch
of Zurich has been conducting
the Services in Goshen and Var-
na churches during the pastor's
illness,
Floyd McAsh of Hamilton
visited during the weekend with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John
McAsh.
Mr. and Mrs. Watson Webster
have returned home after a
holiday in Florida.

Thompson presided for the reg-
ular meeting of Amber Rebekah
Lodge, Wednesday evening,
January 21, with a fair attend-
ance owing to weather condit-
ions. A number of members
were absent with the flu and
colds.
Word was received that both
Clinton and Goderich Lodges
will be represented at the 21st
birthday party, February 4, if
weather is favourable,
Plans were discussed to invite
the 1969 student who had been
chosen to attend last year's
session of the United Nations, at
a later date.
Final plans were made for the
bake sale and tea, which was
very successful, with proceeds
for renovations to the local
arena. A. cup of tea and a light
lunch was served,
