REPORT
During the week of January
11 to 17, the Exeter detachment
of the Ontario Provincial Police
investigated three traffic accid-
ents, in which there were no
injuries. They laid eight char-
ges under the Highway Traffic
Act, two under the Liquor Con-
trol Act and two under the
Criminal Code of Canada. Thirt-
een warnings were handed out
under the Highway Traffic Act.
The accidents were as fol-
lows:
On Friday, January 16, at
6:50 p.m. a car operated by
Donald J. Glavin of R,R.2
Crediton, collided with a car

Miss Marlene Rader had her
tonsils removed in South Huron
Hospital , last Wednesday.
Mrs. Anne Coxon has returned
home after being a patient in
St. Joseph's Hospital, London.
Mrs. Milton Deitz spent a
couple of days last week at the
home of her daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. Pete Allan, and family,
London.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Oke
were pleasantly surprised on
Saturday evening when mem-
bers of their family entertained
them at a surprise party at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Morris
Webb, on the occassion of their
15th wedding anniversary.

Glassford investigated a hit and
run accident in Centralia in.

car owned by Harvey A. Hill-
man of Huron Park was struck
by another vehicle which left
the scene. Damage to the Iiill-
man car estimated at $150.
On Saturday, January 17, at
11:30 p.m. a car operated by
Alvin W. Cowie of Centralia
collided with a car operated by
James W. Jesney of R.R.1,
Exeter, on Victoria Street in
Centralia. Damage estimated
at $400. Provincial Constable
E.C. Wilcox investigated.

The Week of Prayer for
Christian Unity is marked in
most communities with services,
discussions and fellowship dur-
ing the third week of January
by members of Protestant and
Roman Catholic churches.
This year's observance will
be held in Emmanuel United
Church on Sunday, January 25,
at 8 p.m., with members and
adherents of other churches in-
vited
nvited to attend and participate.
Speaker for the occasion will
be the Rev. Lloyd Kalbfleisch,
of Zurich. Special music is to
be provided. General theme
suggested for this week is "Co-
workers with God."

UNITED CHURCH WOMEN
The United Church Women
of Zurich United Church held
their first meeting of the year
in the church basement on
Wednesday, January 14, at two
o'clock.,
Introductory music was played
by Mrs. Menno Steckle. Mrs.
Leroy O'Brien opened the meet-
ing with a poem entitled "What
is the New Year?" after which
everyone repeated the 23rd
Psalm. A Hymn was sung, fol-
lowed by the Scripture. Which
was read by Mrs. Hilton True-
mner, and a prayer led by Ethel
Gabel.
Mrs. Delbert Geiger acquaint-
ed the group with some U.C.
Missionaries by reading a letter
from each. The offering was
taken, followed by the topic
"Aging is for Everyone, " pre-
sented -in the form of a skit by
Mrs. Hilton Truemner, Mrs.
Leroy O'Brien and Ethel Gabel,
Mrs. Leroy O'Brien and Miss
Meda Surerus favoured with a
lovely duet entitled "He knows
it all",
A Hymn was sung and the
meeting was turned'over to the
new president, Mrs. George
Bullock.
After a lengthly business the
Myspha Bennediction was re-
peated followed by a fellowship
period and lunch.

The Bert Moggach farewell
party and presentation scheduled
for the Seaforth and District
High School on Friday evening,
January 23, has been cancelled
because of the high incidents of
flu in the area. An announce-

DIES IN DETROIT
There passed away in hospital,
after a short Miles, Ed Siebert,
\.of Detroit, on Friday, January 9.
He was the oldest son of form-
