Easter Seal Fund
Reaches Objective
The 1969 Easter Seal campaign
for Ontario Crippled Children
reached its $1, 470, 000 object-
ive in the closing days of the
year, campaign chairman W.D.
Whitaker of Toronto announced
this week.
Mr. Whitaker said a late
surge of industrial and welfare
fund year-end donations ensured
the campaing's success.
"Fulfilling our objective, "
Mr. Whitaker said, "will serve
as an incentive for the 1970
campaign." He said that al-
though no target figure has yet
been set, the Ontario Society
for Crippled Children is faced
with the dual problems of rising
costs and rising demands for its
services.
Mr. Whitaker explained that
the campaign, although con-
centrated during the pre -Easter
period, actually extends over
a much longer period of time
and donations to the Society are
always acceptable.
The campaign is conducted
by the Society in conjunction
with more that 230 service clubs
across Ontario, Mr. Whitaker
said, "and credit must go to
these clubs as well as to thous-
ands of individual and corporate
donors for the campaing's suc-
cess."
uc-cess."
Funds raised during the camp-
aign are used to provide a wide
range of services and equipment
needed by Ontario's 14,500 crip-
pled children beyond those which
are provided by official hospital-
ization and health plans.
