BRUINS 2 - CANADIENS 1
Saturday horning saw the Bruins
win a close -2-1 game over the
Canadiens in Zurich House Lea-
gue action.
Scorers for the winning Bruins
were Barry Hess and Marc Gel -
Inas. The lone Canadien `cioal
was accounted for by Stepien
Bedour.
Bruins goals were scored in the
first period and it looked as if
they would have a shut -out un-
til the last few minutes of the
second period when the Canad-
iens scored.
There were no penalties called
in the game.
HAWKS 5 - LEAFS 3 '
The Hawks and the leafs played
a close game right to the end
with the Leafs coming out on
the short end •5-3.
Fred Mommersteegg led the
Hawks scoring attack, account-
ing for three of the goals. Single:
were added by Danny Meidinger
and David Clarke.
Jeff O'Brien scored twice for
the Leafs while the extra marker
was scored by GregLove.
Each team scoronce in the
first period and twice in the
second period, when the game
could have gone either way.
The Hawks scored two early
goals in the last stanza to end
the scoring.
There were three penalties
called in the game, all going
to the Hawks.

Zurich Flyers Edge Dominions; Meet
Dashwood on Boxing Day Afternoon °
In ari exhibtion hockey game
on Sunday afternoon, the Zurich
Flyers of the WOAA Intermediate
ranks, edged the Zurich Domin-
ions, of tfie OHA Junior D group-
ing, 5-4. The game featured
good clean hoc <ey, with both
teams exhibiting plenty of speed
at all tunes.
Bob Johnston opened the scor-
ing for the Flyers at the 4:38
mark of the first period, but
with less than two minutes left
in the initial stanza, Bob Langil-
le tied the score at 1-1.
Bob Henry, Stu Mustard and
John McKinley all scored in the
second period in that order, to
give the Dominions a 4-1 lead,
with less than a minute to go.
Bill Chipchase slapped one in
for the Flyers at the 19:31 mark,
to bring then back into range.
In the third period the Flyers
held an edge in the scoring dep-
artment, and by the nine -minute
mark they had tied the score at
4-4 on goals by Jim Pfaff and
Chipchase. Bob Merner scored
the winning goal for the Flyers
at 16:30 of the the third period.
The Flyers will be playing
the Dashwood Bears in a regular
WOAA Intermediate game here
on Friday afternoon, Boxing Day,
at 2 p.m,
The Zurich Dominions, who
have not seen too much action in
the past week, will be playing
three games in the next week, in
four days, beginning on Saturday
night. Saturday nigrt they travel
to Belmont for a crucial game
that will decide second place in
the league standings. On Sunday
afternoon they host the Mitchell
Hawks at 2 p.m., and then on
the following Tuesday night they
play a return engagement back
in Mitchell. The Dominions are
still in second place in the six -
team grouping,
