he pointed out, but added that
the situation would be cleared
up without any difficulty.
Members of council were
critical of the sidewalk con-
struction which has recently
been completed in the village
by the firm of C, A. McDowell
Construction Co, Ltd, They
agreed to ask the contractor
to come and make an inspection
of several spots where damage
had been done to driveways and
boulevards.
Councillor Hein Rooseboom,
chairman of the property com-
mittee, asked council what was
to happen to the old furnace
which has been demolished from
the town hall. W , J. Cameron
was awarded the contract to in-
stall a new gas furnace, and felt
he should have the material
from the old furnace. Reeve
Jaques and Rooseboom were
delegated to discuss the matter
with the contractor.
In his report to council, works
superintendent E.R. Davis said
that all the snow fence has been
erected in the village, and two
loads of sand mixedwithsalt
has been prepared for use on the
streets in case of icy conditions.
Ile also advised council that he
is negotiating with someone to
blow the snow away at rhe dump.
Mr. Davis also told council
that he had purchased 12 fluor-
escent tubes for the hall, and
added that lie was "flabbergasted
at the price when the invoice
arrived," Council members in-
dicated that a better buy on this
sort of supply could probably
have been made at one of the
l-Iensall retail outlets.
In correspondence read by Clerk
ZURICH CITIZENS NEWS
Earl Campbell, Usborne Town-
ship advised the council that
they were not satisfied with the
bill for their share of maintain -
in the sump. They also object-
ed to the bill for a fire call at
the dump, and further pointed
out that they felt their munic-
ipality did not contribute one-
third of the refuse unloaded there,
Council members felt a meeting
should be held with Usborne
council to arrive at a suitable
settlement of the matter.
Another letter read at the
meeting was from the Frank
Cowan Insurance Agency, ad-
vising coueicil that the policy
covering accidents had been re-
vised to include dental care,
since this is not included In a
government insurance plan.
Air. Campbell also reported
that be hadcommunication
with the area fire marshal! from
Kitchener, asking for a meeting
with the council, but members
agreed that this should be held
over until the first of the new
