During the past week they came up with an 8-6 victory over the power- ful Belmont Sunsets, and then on Sunday they won their third in a row with a decisive '7-3 Leafs Dawn Bruins In. House League In the second week of House League play Saturday, the Leafs defeated the Bruins 4-2. Greg Love scored twice while Jeff O'Brien and Gary Rau each ac- counted for one. Barry Hess and David Schilbe were the marks- men for the Bruins. The Leafs took a 2-0 lead but David Schilbe scored his goal be- fore the period ended to make it 2-1. The Leafs scored once in the second. Each team scored once in the third to conclude the game at a score of 4-2. The second game in the league was between the Hawks who shut- out the Canadiens by a score of 4-0. David Clark scored three times in the first period. Wayne Meidinger scored in the second and Fred Mormnersteeg added the fourth goal in the last period. Next home game for the Dom- inions is this Sunday afternoon, when they entertain the Lutan Irish, a new entry in the league this year. The Irish have many players in their roster bearing names of former hockey greats from Lucan, namely Revington, Hardy, Hodgins, Freeman and Urbshott. Game time is 2 p. rn. ZURICH 7 - MITCHELL 3 On Sunday afternoon the Dom- inions celebrated the return of Bill Stirling to their lineup, and chalked up an easy 7-3 win over their arch -rivals fom Mitchell. A newly formed line of Kevin McKinnon centering John Loader and Stirling accounted for nine points, with McKinnon picking up two goals and one assist; Stir- ling with three assists; and Loader one goal and two assists. Each ratan on the Schilbe- Mustard-Corriveau line came up with a goal as well, with Must - and also picking up an assist on Corriveau's goal. The seventh marker carne from the stick of defenceman Ron Henry, After a slow start in the first period, which saw the visitors take a short-lived 2-1 lead, the Dominions came on strong and improved steadily as the. game went on. Ron Corriveau gave the locals a 1-0 lead at the 6.46 mark of the first period, and then at 12.40 Don Murray scored for Mitchell. Forty-four seconds later Dave Chessel scored again for the Hawks, but that ended their threat for the rest of the game. McKinnon came up with two goals before the first ses- sion ended to give the Dominions a lead which they never reling- uished. Henry scored the only goal of the second period at 4.43, al- though the locals continually peppered the Mitchell net from every angle. The third period was only two and a half minutes old when Zurich Bantams Trounce Hensall Crew 16-3; Weido Scores Three Last Friday night in Hensall the Zurich Bantams won their second game of the season bydefeating Hensall by a score of 16-3. Peter Hesse was the top scorer for the locals as he fired six markers against the Hensall goalie. Ger- ald Weido chipped in three for a hat trick, while the doubles went to Brad Oke and Pat Bedard, The three singles went to Joe Kenda, John Momrnersteeg and Bill Bedard. Hensall goals were scored by Dan Turvey, Randy Campbell and Kevin Buchanan. In the first period Zurich scored five times compared to Ilensall's two. Zurich controlled the play for the rest of the game getting give more goals in the second and six in the last period. Hensall only carne up with one goal. There were four penalties hand- ed out in the game with each team drawing two. CLINTON 7 - ZURICFI 5 Saturday night was a rather sad night for the boys of rhe ban- tam team as they lost their first game of the season by a close 7-5 victory for Clinton. Clinton goals were scored by Pete Lang- ille and Cam Calquh.oun who each scored twice. Singles went to Bob Cmaeron, Rick Stirling and Don Kay. Peter Hesse was again the top scorer for Zurich. with a hat trick. Gerald Weido added two goals for the locals. At the end of the first period Clintion had a 2-1 lead, which was increased to 5-4 by the end of the second when it looked as if Zurich might still have a chance to win. Each week the holder of the right score receives twenty-five dol- lars. Short ly after Stu Mustard carne up with an unassisted picture goal to give the Dominions a 6-2 lead, Midway through the period Ches- sel scored his second goal for Mitchell, only to have Rich Schilbe rifle a shot past Houze a minute later, to salt away the ' 7-3 victory. Zurich out -shot the Mitchell crew 53-27 in the game, A total of 18 minor penalties were called in the well -played game, with only eight of them going to the Zurich squad. ZURICH 8 - BELMONT 6 Even though the score was close, the Dominions had little trouble with the Belmont Sun- sets last Wednesday night in the Zurich Arena, as they posted their second straight win over last year's league winners. On the previous Saturday night the locals blanked the Belmont crew 4-0 on their home ice. The locals took an early3-0 lead in the first period beore the visitors finally found the range and came back with two markers. In the second period Zurich out- scored Belmont 3-0, and then in the third period they let up a bit and the visitors pumped in four goals to Zurich's two. Ron Corriveau, Bob Cook and John McKinley each blinked' the red light twice for Zurich, while Stu Mustard and Shane McKinnon both scored one, Three Belmont players, Gary Gavey, John Willsie and Gord Weaver, all scored two goals each. Zurich out -shot the visit- ors 39-30. Gary Geoffrey, in the Zurich net, carne up with a number of spectacular saves in the game, as he did in the Sunday game against Mitchell.
