(Citizens News Photo) AUDREY BELLCHAMBER TELIS YOU - - - - ALL ABOUT BAYFIELD INTERESTING HAPPENINGS IN ONTARIO'S PRE' LEST VILLAGE UNITED CHURCH WOMEN The monthly meeting of St. Andrews United Church Women Unit II was held at the home of Mrs, Arnold Makin. The worship, with the theme "God First" was taken by Mrs. Bert Greer, Mrs. George Heard and Mrs. Donald Beck. The reports were given, with the treasurer's report showing a substantial bank balance. It was decided to send a don- ation to the Rev. McAllister in Woodstock, to be forwarded'to the African Youth group about which he spoke when here in October, Mrs. Don Haw is to receive donations, and articles donated for a London Rescue Mission. The December meeting will be a joint meeting of Units I and II at the home of Mrs. A, S Mor- ton. The election of officers for 1970 was held and most officers positions were successfully filled. The gift of the month was re- ceived by Mrs. Don Haw, The meeting closed with prayer and lunch was served by the hostess assisted by the committee in charge. FASHION SHOW A delightful selection of winter fashions were modelled in the auditorium of the Community Centre last Wednesday evening. Displaying to full advantage, the pant suits, mini -skirts, kilts, coat and dress ensembles, cloud soft sweaters, and "after five" party dresses were: Karen Fitz- simmons, Colleen Merner, Bar- bara Graham, Lynn Brandon, Pat Maloney, Pat Renner, Grace Hutchings, Marilyn Haw, Audrey Bender and Monica Gemeinhardt, Rick Westlake showed men's sports wear and Mrs. L• . W . Odd- leifson was the very able com- mentator for the evening. The fashions were by courtesy of the Woollen Shop, and Paul and Connie West donated the proceeds from the event to the Commun- ity Centre. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Parker, Charlie and Kim returned to London on Sunday, after spend- ing the weekend with his par- ents Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Parker. Mr. and Mrs. George Kalanzis of Birmingham Mich, were week- end guests at the Albion Hotel. Mrs. Robert Turner is a patient in Clinton Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Sturgeon and Susan of Preston visited -his mother, Mrs. Maud Sturgebn on Sunday. Mrs. Kathleen Reid of Windsor was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Carl E. VARNA EXPLORER' S MEET The Explorer group of the United Church met, and the meeting was opened with the president, Miss Cathy Taylor, in charge. The Explorer Purpose and motto was recited by the nine members present. The Scripture lesson was read by Miss Wendy Mustard. Miss Bre; nda Dowson gave the prayer. The minutes were read by Miss Nancy Fawcett. The offering was taken up by Miss Ann Marie heard. For crafts the members are making Christmas candles. After the meeting the members went out selling Christmas cakes. Laymen's Sunday was observed in the United Church last Sunday when a Laymen's Choir led the' singing and took part in the ser- vice. Hensall Mr. and Mrs, Stewart Bell and Troyann have returned from Lansing, Mich. , where they spent the past week with their daughter Pauline, who is a ska- ter with "Holiday On Ice." Mr. and Mrs, Laird Mickle spent a few days recently visit- ing relatives in Hamilton and Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Bell and Troyann visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sauter in Marlette, Mich. Ross Love of Clinton, formerly of the Parr Line, is a patient in Clinton Community .hospital, where he was admitted on Sat- urday. EXECUTIVE MEETING The executive meeting of the United Church Women of Hensall United Church met on Monday evening with president Mrs. Vern Alderdice presiding, and an attendance of seventeen. Plans were made to close the books by November 30, in order that the report can be got to Mrs. Sawyer of Mitchell before Dec- ember 15. The general Christ- mas meeting will be held Dec- ember 15. ' 0 Obituary MRS. WILLIAM DOUGLAS Mrs. William J. Douglas, Bruce - field, the former Elizabeth J. Hudson passed away Tuesday, November 25, at the Kilbarchan Nursing Horne, Seaforth, in her 95th year. Surviving are one daughter, (Anna Pearl) Mrs. Lindsay Eyre, Brucefield; two grandauehters, and eight great grandchildren. Public funeral service will be held from the Bonthron Funeral Home, Hensall, Thursday at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. E. D. Stuart.
