Rev. and Mrs. Bruce Guy and Judy spent last Tuesday in Wind- sor with Rev, Guy's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Guy on the oc- casion of his father's 83rd birth- day. LUTHERAN LADIES AID The November meetingof Zion Lutheran Ladies Aidwas held November 5, with group one in charge of devotions and lunch, Rev. E.E, Steinman had as his topic "Working together in the Ministry and Missions." Mrs. Lrne Genttner, president dealt with the business. The Dec- ember meeting will be the Christ. mas meeting and election of officers. Nominating committee is Mrs. Reinhold Miller and Mrs. Marie Restemayer. The Altar Guild is Mrs. Adolph Keller and. Mrs, Charles Martine. Each mem ber is to bring a guest to the Christmas meeting. Donations were made to Missions, Luther- an Hour, C.N.1,B. and the Children's Aid Society. Charles Mon- theith of Lambeth visited his sister, Mrs. G, N , Rivers and Mr. Rivers on Sunday. Ken Atken, and Bruce Red- mund of Watford spent last week at the Albion Hotel, weekend guests were; Mr. and Mrs. Geo- rge Kalanzis of Birmingham, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. E . J.. Pon- gracz, Grosse Pointe, and Mr. and Mrs. F. Doughtery of Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. "Bud" Dewar Talbot, John Talbot, Gary Talbot, Ricky Tal- bot and Doug Armstrong have returned from a weeks hunting trip in the north. Mike Scotchmer, university of Guelph and Miss Lynn Brown of London joined the former's parents Mr. and Mrs. Alf Scotch - mer for the weekend. The ladies of Trinity Guild hosted a very successful tea, bazaar,.and.bake sale on Satuz day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Ian Stewart of Toronto were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weston. HISTORICAL SOCIETY The Bayfield Historical Soc- iety met at the Municipal Build- ings on Monday, November 10. with 23 present and Mrs. A. S. Morton in the chair. Minutes were read by Mrs. Harvey Baker; Mrs. E. Oddleif- son reported on sales of the hasti- notes. The members were apprecia- tive of the donation from Mr. J, W, McLaren, a percentage of the amount from paintings he had sold at his art exhibition here in August. Mrs. Charles Bell reported that over 200 articles from 21 contr- ibutors had been in the historical - exhibit at the Bayfield Fair in September. This was followed by a discussion on future exhibits, A letter from the Pioneer Park Association was read expressing their appreciation of the beaut- iful and unique street signs that have been erected. Mrs. Leroy Poth gave a report of the meeting of the Huron County Historical Society coun- cil held that afternoon in the archives room, Goderich. Brigadier F.A, Clift showed the historical booklet that the Goderich D, C , I. students had made under the direction of their history department teacher, Mr. Charles Kalbfleisch. All present felt that this was excel- lent work arousing interest in research and in the interviewing with various citizens. The stu- dents at Clinton have also been working on local history. Mr. G, H. Willits of Michigan and Bayfield told members how he had become interested in the Indian tribes of the Eastern Un - ited States and Canada, and also gave a brief history of the Sus- quehannas and the Delawares as they related to Michigan, Ohio and Ontario. The next meeting will be on Monday, December 8, at which, as always, all. those interested in local history are invited. Bayfield Senior Citizens Club held the annual Christmas din- ner party on Wednesday last. Sixty-one members and guests attended the event which was held in the auditorium of the Community Centre. Following dinner Euchre was played with ladies high prize going to Mrs. Nora Heard, and the men's high to Harry Baker. The lone hand winners were Mrs. Lloyd Makins and George Clark, Mrs. C. Merrier and John Marks received the low prize. During the evening prizes were also won by Mrs. Percy Weston, Mrs. Fred Mote; Mrs. Tom Bailey; and Walter Westlake. Zurich Peewees Down Huron Park The, Zurich PeeWees won their opening game of the sea- son on Monday night at the local arena when they handed the Huron Park PeeWees a 9-1 drub- bing. They scored three goals in the first period, added two more in the second and came up with four in a big third period rally. The Huron Park six scored their only goal of the game in the third period. Jim Moffat was the marksman. Derek O'Brien sparked the Zurich attack with three goals, while Wayne Meidinger and Greg Love scored two each. Stephen Haberer and Wayne Clarke both scored one. Only four penalties were called in the game, with each team drawing two of them, U,C, YOUNG COUPLES CLUB Young couples of Calvary United Church plan to meet twice a month on Sunday even- ing and all young married cou- ples are invited to attend. The first meetingwas held Sunday, November 1, when the movie " Zero 8" was shown. The next meeting will be November 30, and will be devoted to discussion on present day problems facing young couples. Mrs. Grace Beavis, Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bruce of Win- dsor, Mr. and Mrs. John Snider, Brantford, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Vandhal, Montreal, attend - Zurich Midgets Open Season With Win Over Seaforth The Zurich Midgets opened their season on a winning note Monday night at the local arena when they carne up with a 6-4 Victory in a penalty -ridden con- test with the Seaforth Midgets, A total of 24 penalties were handed out in the game, with 16 of them going to the visitors. Included in tie Seaforth total were three game misconducts and two ten-minute misconducts. Bath teams picked up two major Penalties for fighting. Kyle Harrison was the big gun for the locals with three goals, while John Corriveau chipped in with two. Larry Hess scored the extra goal for the locals. Zurich took a 4-1 lead in the first. period, and neither team managed to count in the second. Seaforth out -scored the locals 3-2 in the third, but the Zurich crew still had a big enough mar- gin to carry them to victory. CALVARY UCW The November meeting of Calvary United Church Women was opened with a short reading by the chairlady Mrs, Don Gaiser. Mrs. Syd Neeb led in prayer :and Mrs, Gerald Mason read the scripture, Mrs. Jessie Rader read the poem"In Flanders Field." Mrs. Esther Salmon, Mrs. Lillian Becker, and Mrs. Helen Kleinstiver showed slides and pictures on their trip to Switzer- land. Mrs. Eben Weigand, president dealt with the business, It was decided to send a donation to "Care" for Biafra. The annual Christmas dinner is to be held December 9. All members brought in their talent money and told how they had made one dollar grow. Election of officers was held and Mrs. Don Gaiser is the new president of the UCW. Mr, and Mrs. Cyril Hartman and family, Thorndale, and Mrs. Greg Fleming and girls were Sunday visitors with their mother Mrs. T. Hartman.
