Mrs. Elizabeth Riley enter-
tained 10 ladies to dinner at her
home, the occasion being the
celebration of birthdays of three
of the ladies. Six of the ladies
were eighty and over, and one
was 91 years young. A social
hour was spent in playing cards,
Mr, and Mrs. Bert Horton,
prominent Hensall residents, re-
cently observed their 35th wed-
ding anniversary at a surprise
party held for them at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Corbett, R.R
1, Exeter, arranged by their
daughter and son-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Alan Busche of Dor-
chester, and son Bruce of Hen-
sall. The couple were the re-
cipients of many lovely gifts.
Ross Jinks, London formerly
of Hensall, is a patient in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London with
a heart condition.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hoff-
man, R. R.3, Kippen, have pur-
chased the Jinks property on.
Queen Street.
Word was received of the death
of Garnet Smallacombe, of
Guelph, formerly of Hensall,
who passed away Friday, Nov-
ember 14, in Guelph hospital,
Mr. Smallacombe, a former
Ilensall native, was the third
child to be born in the village.
I•le was 92 years old. Survivors
are a son and a daughter. Fun-
eral service was held Monday,
November 17, at the G, Mc-
Intyre funeral home, Guelph.
Mr. and. Mrs. Gary Corlett
and family, Toronto, spent the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. N.E.
Cook.
Mrs. Pearl Shaddick has return-
ed home from a week's visit with
her son and d auhter- in- law,
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Shaddick, Lon-
don.
Barry Mousseau of Hensall was
presented with a Donnybrook
Roughrider Iiigh Point Trophy for
1969, plus three challenge troph-
ies for Western games, at their
Saddle Club banquet November
15 in Dorchester.
Mrs. Alma Hess is visiting
with her daughter and son-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. McCloy
and family at Don Mills.
Mrs. Eric Kennedy is vacat-
ioning with relatives in Fenelon
Falls.
Ivir. and Mrs. Jack Consitt
were in Guelph on Sunday and
called at the G. McIntyre fun-
eral home, to pay respects to
rhe late Garnet Smallacombe.
Ivirs. C. Christie and Catharine
Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roobol, Mr.
VanDyke all of Hensall; Mr,
and Mrs Fred McGregor and fam-
ily Brucefield; Mr. and Mrs. R.
Watson, Mr. and Mrs. W. T,
Dodds, Seaforth, attended the
christening of Joan Elizabeth,
infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Donald Dodds, R. R.1, Seaforth,
held Sunday at Caven United
Church, Winthrop. The 5th bir-
thday was also celebrated of
Lynne Dodds, at the home of
her parents, Mr. and 1\lrs. Don-
ald Dodds.
Eric Luther, chairman of the
Canadian National Institute for
rhe Blind, announced this week
that the campaign for funds in
the Hensall area raised the sunt
of $586. 88, which is the highest

Anglican Church Women Hold Annual
Meeting; New Slate of Officers Named
The annual meeting of St.
Paul's Anglican Church Women
was held at the home of Mrs.
Mary Taylor. Mrs. Annie Reid,
president, opened the sleeting
with the reading of "Come Ye
Apart" from the Living Message.
Bible verses read by Mrs. Frank
Forrest.
A report was given by Mrs.
William Scrabuil< on the success-
ful bazaar, bake sale and tea
held in the church basement on
October 18. A vote of thanks was
given to all who donated their
valuable time and to all those
who patronized and made it a
success.
Mrs. George Anderson present-
ed a very interesting report on
the recent Deanery meeting con-
ducted at Kincardine.
The Rev. G.A. Anderson took
the chair for the election of
officers for 1970. The new slate
of officers are: president, Mrs.
William Scrabuik; vice-president
Mrs. Mary Taylor; secretary,
Mrs. Vic Stan; treasurer, Mrs.

Obituary
John E. (Jack) Boyd 35, of
Paddington Street, London, died
Saturday in Victoria Hospital,
London, from brain and chest
injuries received in an accident
from which he never regained
consciousness. He was returning
• home from work on September
16. It was raining at the time
when his car skidded and crashed
into an abutment, causing the
car to roll down an embankment.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Marie Pullman of Seaforth
three sons, Danny, Donald and
Douglas, two daughters, Brenda
and Barbara, all at home; his
mother, Mrs. Cornelius Faber,
R, R. 3, Exeter; two step sisters,
Lynne and Patsy, one step broth-
er, Stephen Faber, R. R, 3, Exeter
Public funeral service was held
from the Bronthron funeral home,
Hensall, on Monday, service
was conducted by Rev. Harold
F. Currie.
