Mrs. Edwin Miller, R.R. 3, Exeter, president chaired the sessions and Mrs. Bill Thompson, Exeter acted as secretary. Mrs. David Kyle conducted the worship service on the theme "Commitment, Concern and Community." Mrs. Robert Elie of Kippen gave the address of Welcome. Miss Ethel Gabel, of Zurich submitted the treasurer's report. An excellent skit was present- ed by Elimville UCW, Mrs. Harold Currie of Hensall present- ed the Literature available for use in the church and home. Mrs. Clarke Kennedy, Grand Bend spoke on programming. Mrs. Torn Brintnell, of Chisel- hurst UCW, gave the dedication of the offering which was pre- sented by the hostesses, Mrs. McKay and Mrs. Robert Kinsman of Kippen, Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan and Mrs. Gordon Bender of Dashwood en- tertained in song. A panel con- sisting of Mrs, Miner, Thames Road, Miss Gabel, Mrs. C. Ken- nedy, Mrs. Sawyer (the record- ing secretary) and Mrs. McDon- ald answered the question box. A delicious turkey banquet was provided by Kippen UCW. The afternoon session com- menced with a hymn, a quiz and a roll call showing members from Centralia, Chiselhurst, Crediton, Dashwood, Elimville, Exeter, Grand Bend, Greenway, Hensall, Kippen, Thames Road, and Zurich. A drama " The Convert", was presented by Mrs. Gerald Cann, Mrs, Art Webb, Mrs. Bob Keys of Grand Bend UCW. Roger Smith and Miss McColl spoke on the London Rescue Mission, both men's and women's discussion. The dedication of prayer was given by Mrs. Merino Steckle, of Zurich UCW, and Mrs, Wood- burn, of Greenway UCW, gave courtesy remarks. The closing worship was conducted by Mrs. Wellington Brock, of Exeter. Rev, E,D. Stuart, Kippen, pro- nounced the benediction. In evaluating the day, the women decided to continue the regional meeting. LEGION AUXILIARY The following 12 members of Hensall Legion Ladies Auxiliary were presented with twenty-year membership pins at their meet- ing Tuesday evening, November 4. Mrs. William Smale, Mrs. Gordon Munn, Mrs. Mary Tay- lor, Mrs. Harry Horton, Mrs. Bryan Kyle, Mrs. Hilda Smale, Mrs. Maude Hedden, Mrs. Alda Simmons, Mrs. Jack Simmons, Mrs. Nancy Kyle, Mrs. Alice Joynt, and Mrs. Howard Smale. President Mrs. Garner. Allan, who presided, made the present- ations. During the business session the group accepted applications for three new members, They will cater a banquet in December and also catered to the Legion supper on Tuesday, November 11. Members will exchange gifts at their Christmas meeting. Nominations were held and members canvassed for the poppy fund on Saturday. Any boy or girl wishing to feed calves for the Hensall South Huron Agricultural Society, contact one of the Di- rectors, or the Secretary, as soon as possible. In addition to the $4 Prize Money paid for each entry, according to township grants, an addi- tional prize of $6 for each entry will be paid by the Fair Board. FAREWELL PARTY A farewell party was held at the home of Dave I<ipfer for Bill Hoy, prior to his departure to Cornwallis, N, S. for basic training in the Canadian Armed Forces. Eighteen of 13i11's friends enjoyed a social evening, and a presentation of a purse of mon- ey was made to him by Eric Lu- ther. Lunch was served including a farewell cake which was made by Mrs. Luther. Unit4 of UCW Discusses China At the November meeting of Unit 4 of the United Church Women of Hensall, Mrs. Harry Caldwell presented the study on China, and spoke of Christianity in China today, and the balance of nature. Mrs. Sim Roobol had charge of the devotional on "Sufficient unto the Day." She was assisted by Mrs. Laird Mickle. Mrs. Grace Harpole rendered a piano solo. Mrs. James McAllister presided throughout the meeting. A total of 91 visits were reported. The bale was packed on Tues- day, November 11, at 9 a.m. , with quilting beginning at the same hour. Articles for yarn for the Child- ren's Aid was on hand, and dis- tributed to those wishing to knit, There was a request for used nylons for stuffing toys, and cards for scrap books. This unit will be responsible for the church flowers and nur- sery for the month of December. There will be a meeting of the general executive on Monday, December 18, at 2 p. m. An invitation from the Goshen UCW was announced for Thurs- day, November 20, at 8 p.m. The Huron Chapter of registered nurses are holding a seminar on communications in Goderich Psychiatric Hospital, December 3 and 4. The social committee served a cup of tea and quilting was enjoyed both before and -after the meeting. 0 Student Thanks Huron Board (by Richmond Atkey) In behalf of the honour students of Goderich District Collegiate Institute, Miss Anne Hopkinson forwarded a letter of thanks to Huron County Board of Education at its meeting in Central Huron Secondary School, Clinton, last week, "for the wonderful trip to Ottawa." "Mobs of protesting youth were seen in front of Parliament Build- ings demonstrating against the Soviet Foreign Minister, M. Gromyko, " she said.
