Area Accidents On Monday, September 29, at 5:15 p.m. a one vehicle collision occurred on the park- ing lot of the Dufferin Hotel, Centralia, involving a vehicle driven by Dorne Joseph Noel, 249 Main Street, Exeter. There were no injuries, Damage es- timated at $300. 00 by the in- vestigating officer, Provincial Constable D.A. Lamont. On Thursday, October 2, Pro- vincial Constable D,A, Mason investigated a two car collision that occurred at 11:45 a.m. on highway No. 84, 91 feet west of the . N.R, crossing (L-1) 4-H Members Hold Joint Meetings (by Joyce Beierling) Meeting two was held at 7:00 p. m. on September 24, at the Township Hall. Debbie Hogg led us in the 4-1.1 pledge and Sally Dietrich read the minutes of the first meeting. The Unit IIT club decided as having the name Nifty Needlers, Unit IV is called the Nifty Stit- chers. Everyone answered the roll call which was "The learning stitches article I have chosen to make and Why". At this meeting Mrs. Oke dem- om onstrated the blanket stitch. Dur- ing group work we did three types of this stitch. Meeting three was held at 7:00 p.m. on October 1, at the Town- ship Hall. Debbie Hogg led us in the 4-11 pledge and Sally Dietrich read the minutes of the second meet- ing, eet- s All but one person answered the roll call which was "Places the blanket stitch or the buttonhole stitch could be used. Mrs. Hogg discussed with us "How to Create a Design". Mrs. Oke showed us how to do the crewel stitch. In group work we started our samples and table runners. Hensall, involving a vehicle driven by Frank Evans, of 18 st. Vincent Street, Stratford, • and a vehicle driven by Wilhelmine Jaques of 72 Brock Street, Hen- sall. Damage estimated at $625. 00. No injuries. On Friday October 3, Prov- incial Constable W. G, Glass - ford investigated a two vehicle collision that occurred at 9 p. m. on highway No. 4, one mile south of Usborne-Tuckersmith Township line, involving a vehicle driven by Thomas Strang Dougall, of R. R.1, Hensall, and a vehicle driven by Guy Lloyd Ilunter- Duval, Exeter. Dam age estimated at $450, 00, No in- juries. On Saturday, October 5, Pro- vincial Constable LA, Wright, investigated a collision which involved a pickup truck driven by Frederick William Garner McFalls, of 24 Huron Street, Exeter, and a boat trailer owned by William Brock, 183 Welling- ton Street, Exeter, which was being towed by the truck. Ac- cident occurred on No. 81 high- way, one mile north of the Crediton Road, at 8:05 p.m. Damage estimated at $330. 00. No injuries. 0 Zurich V Girls Hold Fifth Meeting (by Darlene McBride) The fifth meeting of the Zur- ich V 4-H club was held Tues- day, September 30, at the home of Darlene McBride. We opened the meeting with the 4-H pledge and all answered to the roll call "Places the lazy daisy and chain stitches' could be used." Our leaders demonstrated how to twist a cord for a tote bag and a wall hanging. They demonstrated the Roman and Fly stitch. Then we sewed it on our sample. Rita read the minutes of the last meeting. We decided to hold our next meeting October 7, at the home of Rita and Toni Pennings. Rest Home Auxiliary and Residents Enjoy Musical Program at the Home On Wednesday October 1, at 8 o'clock, 15 members of the Blue Water Rest Home Auxiliary, and the residents enjoyed a mu- sical program. Sharon Durand, as chairlady, introduced the Committee, Ger- trude Durand and Marie Cyr. Carol and Cathy Cr,ysang "A Bouquet of Roses' and played a piano duet, "Heart and Soul". Marie Cyr played a medley of songs on the piano. Sharon Dur- and read a poem "Saga of the Form." David Cyr entertained with'his guitar and sang "Tear Drops". I -lis sister Cathy, joined him to sing "Signed, Sealed and Del- ivered". Carol Cyr, played a piano instrumental, "On the wings of a Snow White Dove," She was followed with a duet by Bernadette and Marie Cyr. The committee and the young people sang a number of fam- Carmel WMS Hold October Meeting The October meeting of the W. M, S, of Carmel Presbyterian Church was held in the church on Monday October 6. President Mrs. R.A. Orr, presided, and alongwith Mrs. LE. McEwen conducted the worship service using the theme "Gratitude". A record of the Lord's Prayer by Perry Como was played. The roll call was answered with a Thanksgiving verse. An invitation was accepted to attend the October meeting of Marion Richie organization of Cromarty Church on October 21. About 15 ladies expect to attend. Mrs. Orr gave a report of the - workshop held at Paisley Presby- terian Church recently. The Ladies Aid meeting follow- ed with. Mrs. Harvey Hyde pre- siding, and the final arrange- ments made for the fowl supper held in the church Thursday evening the 9th.
