G.N.O. CLUB The G.N.O. club held their first meeting of the season at the home of Mrs. Bob Hayter, Thursday, September 25. High prize for the night went to Mrs. Lloyd Guenther with second high to Mrs. Stuart Wolfe, High prize for the year went to Mrs. Stuart Wolfe and second high to Mrs. Jim Hayter. New officers are: president, Mrs, Hubert Miller; vice pres- ident, Mrs. Stuart Wolfe; sec- retary -treasurer, Mrs. Lloyd Guenther. Scout leaders, Gary Butler and Rick Gaiser accompanied Mich- Seeteafroteet ewe ela itopta Correspondent: Mrs. Harold Penhale Mr. and Mrs. Harold Penhale visited Mr. and Mrs. Orville Greer, near Seaforth one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. William Scotch - mer spent the weekend on the Bronson line at his parent's home, Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. H. Penhale were Mr. and Mrs. H. McCullough and three sons, Bob, Steven, and Scott. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bennett and daughter Marlene and Joan, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Penhale, Ricky and Wendy were also visit- ors of Mr. and Mrs. H. Penhale. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Scotchme� on the Bronson line and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon G. Scotchmer on the Blue Water Highway motored to Windsor for the weekend. Obituary Mr. Jake Kennel, a former resident of Blake, passed away on Thursday, September 25, in his 85th year, at the Scott Pav- illion Hospital, Kitchener, wherel he has been a patient for almost five years. Surviving are three sons and three daughters, all of Kitchener; Four sisters: Mrs. Nancy Koehler and Mrs. Edmund Erb, of Zurich; - Mrs. Clara Koehler, Kitchener and Mrs. Elda Smith, Watertown, New York. One brother, Mike Kennel, Great Bend, New York. Four sisters and one brother pre- deceased him. Funeral service was Monday September 29 from the Keefer funeral home and burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Kitchen- er. Pall bearers were Stewart Koe- hler, Donald Manson, Stanley Sauder, Gerry Fink, Henry Boshart and Robert Vertch. Relatives and friends attending the funeral of the late Jake Kennel, were Mrs. Nancy Koehler, Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Erb, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Erb, Mrs. Newell Geiger, Mrs. Irvin Martin, Mrs. Sam Hey, Blake; MTs. All report a good time. Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Tieman visited with Mr. and Mrs. Nor- man Evans Sunda at Richmond Hill and attendedya ift show in Toronto the first of the week. The October meeting of Dash- wood W.I. will be held October 7 with Rev. Bruce Guy special speaker. Each member is urged to bring a guest. The bake sale held Saturday was a great suc- cess. Miss Vicki Miller spent the weekend at Zurich with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Forrester. Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Ford spent five days last week with Mr. and Mrs. John Brintnell at French River, fishing. Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rader and Darlene were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rader and family of Stratford and Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Gamble and family of London. Sam Miller and Jake Fischer are patients in South Huron h ospital, Exeter; Mrs. Fred Schlundt underwent surgery in St. Joseph's hospital, London., About Peonle You Know ... Mr. and Mrs. Graham Farquhar and Julie, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Yungblut and family visited with Mr. Ivan Yungblut over the weekend. 0 Births Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Sweeney are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter, Beth' Marie at South Huron Hospital, on Sept. 27, 1969. CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY The family of Rev, and Mrs.. Bruce Guy entertained friends and relatives at an open house in honour of their silver wedding anniversary, Sunday, September 28. Over 100 guests called from Bothwell, London, Lucan, Ko- moka, Hyde Park, Denfield, Birr, Exeter, Hensall, and Dashwood. Several people from this area are off to Switzerland on a nine day trip. Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Ford and Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Miller attended the Allston -Barnett wedding at Royal Oak, Michigan, on Saturday. Hensall Ladies Take Trip To Switzerland by Air A charter flight sponsored by the Zurich Chamber of Com- merce took 180 residents of Zurich and surrounding area for an eight dayvisit to Zurich, SwitzerlandTuesday, Sept- ember 30. Four buses took the passengers from Zurich to Mal - ton Airport, leaving Toronto at midnight arriving in Zurich Switzerland, 9:30 a. in. October 1. A civic reception was held for them, the guests, Wednesday afternoon by the city of Zurich, Switzerland. This is the first time in history that a group from Zurich, Ontario, has visit- ed the city of Zurich, Switzer- land. The flight is being car- ried out by Wardair of Canada, one of the largest charter air- lines in the world.
