Farmers are busy in their bean
fields and already some are
thrashed. They report a light
yield and also due to the hot
weather many are cracked and
lost to the market. The past
week was an excellent week for
bean harvesting being warm and
dry. As the month of September
advances broken weather must
be expected and not only causing
delay , but also deterioratiri
the crop to a lower grade which
means a loss to the farmers.
On Saturday last a welcome
shower passed over this area.
It was -only a cooler or a delay
for some who are in their bean
harvest. Very little rain fell in
this region since June and the
dry spell has had effect on farm

weeks had to draw water and fill
their wells. September as a
rule has several wet days and
broken weather which would
cause water to rise and fill
wells, but since this year has
been an unusual one from the
past years farmers and others are '
of the opinion that it will con-
tinue to be dry. Those with
rock wells have little to worry
about water problems.
Of course the water shortage of
today is not as bad as of years
gone by when farmers kept lots
of cattle, hogs and horses which
meant that much water was need-
ed and many times farmers had
to go to where there was running
springs and the loading of water
dumpedpin barrels which was
plenty of work and many times

by the time they had ariived at
their barns much had spilled.
So you see, all of that caused
hardship. Today many farmners
have sold out their livestock
and the water problems are no
more for that purpose but is
needed for their water system.
So if they run out of water it
means discomfort in their homes.
