The old paraphrased idea
that "fish are where you find
them" has been worked to
death. Most folks agree with
the adage; many promptly ig-
nore it once
they get in a
boat. When you
see a guy flail-
ing the same
area for a long
period without
any encourage-
ment by t h e
fish, you're wit-
nessing neglect
angling's basic Fisher
tenant.
Instead of waiting for fish
to come to you, go looking
for them, urges Red Fisher of
Mercury outboards. Fish are
not evenly distributed through-
out a lake or river, and time
spent looking pays off better
than just sitting and waiting.
While trolling is usually the
best all-around fish -finder, oth-
er techniques may be equally
good ... depending on season,
waters and species.
If you're a casting man, work
the points for bass during the
day, hopping to the next one
down the shoreline when the
first fails to produce after be-
ing explored. At night, work
these same points again, but
also probe back into coves.
Hensall Council
The regular meeting of the
council of the village of Hensall
was held on September 2.
Following the reading and adopt-
ion of the minutes of the meet-
ings of August 5 and 13, E. R.
Davis gave his report. Having
taken two weeks vacation during
the month, he had not been too
active during the month of
August.
Davis reported that two drive-
ways had been repaired by him
due to the fact that drainage
excavation had damaged same.
Damaged road had also been
repaired and a catch basin had
been installed on the south side
of Oxford Street West.
The drain near the corner of
Brock and King Streets has been
cleared and at present is in
working order. Lengthy discuss-
ion regarding the. Mill Street
drain ensued and Davis was
instructed by council to have a
portion of said drain excavated
again and to leave the drain
open and make certain it is
working satisfactorily before it
is covered.
Council discussed the cutting
of weeds in the vicinity of Ox-
ford Street West and also express-
ed concern about the several
dead maple trees in the area.
The clerk informed council that
he had to date received no reply
from the firm contacted to re -
move stumps in the village.
Also there has been no reply
from firms contacted regarding
the laying of new sidewalks;
Arising out of correspondence
council learned that Hensall's
share of the school debentures
for 1969 will be $9, 473. The
several mills in the village
have accepted their share of the
costs of bulldozing the town
dump grounds and will be billed
accordingly.
Building permits were approved
to the following: Douglas Mann
to build a verandah; General
Coach Works to build new offices
and James Taylor to construct
a steel building.
13111s and accounts in the amount
of $2, 153.04 were ordered paid
and the meeting adjourned to
meet again on October 6.

TODAY'S CHILD
BY HELEN ALLEN
The big smile is typical of Davey's disposition, for
this is a happy, easy-going little boy. He is healthy and
sturdy with big brown eyes and dark hair. At 22 months
Davey is not very talkative, but he understands every-
thing said to him, especially the word "no." A friendly,
cheerful child, Davey is not over -active or inquisitive,
though he shows persistence in activities that appeal to
him. He enjoys people but can play contentedly alone.
He is doing most things at the average rate and it is felt
he has higher potential. This little boy needs a loving
mother and father who will provide a stimulating atmos-
phere and will not be concerned over epilepsy in his
background. To inquire about adopting Davey please
write to Today's Child, Department of Social and Fami-
ly Services, Parliament Buildings, Toronto 182. For
other information about adoption ask your local Child-
ren's Aid Society.
