Mrs. Pearl Shaddick is spending
this week the guest of Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Rath, of Belgrave.
Mrs. Louise Simpson, resident
of the Blue Water Rest Horne,
Zurich, is a patient in South
Huron Hospital, Exeter.
Mrs. C. Christie and Catherine
were recent visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. W. T. Dodds, Seaforth,
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Soldan, Jr.
and daughter, have taken up
residence in Grand Bend.
Mr. and Mrs. Doug Dalrymple
have taken up residence in
Exeter where they purchased a
home,

Sunday morning Rev. Harold F.
Currie concluded series of
messages on the "Lord's Prayer"
Mrs. Beatrice Hess presided at
the piano and Jack Caldwell at
the church organ. Sunday,
September 7, the children will
register for Sunday School at
9;45 a.m.
Mrs. Hugh McMurtie has re-
turned home after spending .the
summer months with her sister,
Mrs. R. S. Hopkins, on Saddle
Lake Island, Michigan,
Miss Cassie Dougall, who has
been a patient in South Huron
Hospital, Exeter, has returned
home.
Charles Mickle left recently
for Hamilton where he has been
promoted to the position of
assistant head of the history
department in one of the large
schools in that city.
Hensall Teachers
A staff of nine will look after
about 270 students at Hensall
Public School this year.
They are, kindergarten, Mrs.
Joyce Preszcator; Grade 1,
Mrs. Gayle Edmund; Grade 2,
Miss Donna Kipper; Grade 3,
Mrs. Edna Stoneman; Grade 4,
Mrs. Margaret Horner; grade 5,

Joint Installation
For Local Clubs
On. Saturday
Joint installation of Clinton,
Exeter and Hensall, Kinsmen
and. Kinette Clubs, will be held
this Saturday night, September
6 at the local arena. One
hundred and twenty are expected.
Installing the officers will be
Bill Lawless, of Harriston, deputy
govenor Zone B; George Irvine,
Galt, govenor of District One.
Officers from Hensall being
installed are Kinsmen, president,
Ron Wareing; first vice,
resident,
Alvin Campbell; second vice-
president, Gary Maxwell; sec-
retary, Bruce Nicholls, treasurer,
Tohn Henderson; registrar, Char-
les Doxtader; directors, John

DUNCAN STEWART
One of the oldest residents of
the area, Duncan Stewart passed
away at 1-luronview, Clinton, on
Tuesday, September 2. He
was in his 103rd year. Mr,
Srewart formerly was a resident
of Hensall.
1 -Ie was born in Usborne Town-
ship on January 14, 1867, a son
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Stewart, early pioneers of the
district. For many years he
farmed north of Hensall, before
retiring to the village some
years ago, His wife predeceased
him in 1945,
Mr. Stewart was a member of
Carmel Presbyterian Church,
Hensall since 1890. During the
centennial year he was presented
with special centennial plaque
from the federal government
by R. E. McKinley, MP, for
reaching the age of 100 during
the special year.
Surviving is one son. W.
Murdock, Stewart, of Lake
Forrest, Illinois. There is also
one grandson.
The body is resting at the
Bonthron funeral chapel, Hensall,
where the funeral service will
take place today, Thursday, at
2 p. in. Interment will be made
in the Hensall Union cemetery,
with Rev. W. D. Jarvis officiat-
ing.
GORDON SMITH
Funeral service for Gordon
Smith, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs.
John W. Smith, R. R. 3,
Clinton, who was drowned Sun-
day afternoon when he slipped
into about eight feet of water
while wading along the edge
of a private gravel pit, about
two and a half miles southwest
of Clinton, was held from the
Ball funeral home, Clinton on
Tuesday afternoon, September 2,
with burial in Bairds Cemetery.
Gordon was the nephew of Mrs.
Gordon Troyer, R. R. 2, Hensall,
