TODAY'S CHILD
BY HELEN ALLEN
Mark is only two months old and he looks a little
displeased at life. Perhaps it is because the photographer
arrived at feeding time and this little fellow doesn't like to
be kept waiting for his meals. Mark is a healthy, normal
baby, developing well, of French, Scottish and English
descent. His small frame is well -padded and he has blue
eyes, red hair and fair skin. He is alert and responsive,
smiling and cooing, crying only when he's in real trouble.
He is accustomed to toddlers and older children, so would fit
well into a family. This baby has a good background with no
problems. To inquire about adopting Mark please write to
Today's Child, Department of Social and Family Service.
Parliament Buildings, Toronto 182. For general information
about adoption ask your local Children's Aid Society.

Barbers Late Rally
Aid In 5th Win
In a very close, hard fought
game between the rising Barber
Boys and the failing Charles
Auto Sales, Merner's crew moved
one step closer to second place,
recording their fifth victory, one
less than Charlies who now hold
second position with six wins.
Both squads were scoreless in
the first frame, but the Barbers
exploded for five runs in the
second on only three hits as
Charlies committed three errors
and walked two. They added
one more counter in the third,
while keeping their young
opponents off the score sheet, as
pitcher Phil Overholt struck out
three and allowed only one bit.
Charles bounced back in the
fourth, crossing the plate six
times to tie up the game. Over-
holt walked five batters that
inning and gave up two doubles.
The Barber Boys took a 7-6 lead
in the fifth and led 13-11 at the
end of the sixth frame. In the
seventh, Charles showed some
life again as they scored three
more runs to take a 14-13 lead.
However, Bob Merner's triple
and a fielder's error in the
eighth brought three runs in for
the Barbers to record a 16-14
win for Merner's boys.
Eric Srnale, Bob Merner,
Larry Bedard, Phil Overholt, and
Jim. Bedard had two each for the
winners, and Shane McKinnon,
Paul Corriveau, and Hubert
Schilbe and Augus McIntosh had
one apiece.
Richard Schilbe and Jerry
Rader led Charlies with two hits
each, while Ray Finkbeiner, Ron
Desjardine, Pete Regier, Paul
Flaxbard, and Richard Turkheim
had one each, Turkheims being
a hard-hit home run.
Winning pitcher Phil Overholt
gave up nine hits, struck out
five, and walked fourteen, while
losing hurler Jerry Rader gave up
fourteen hits, struck out one and
walked only seven.
