The first event to be held in this region was a series of canoe races and demon- strations held on the new Parkhill reservoir Sunday, July 13, These events were just a prelude to the GreatAusable Canoe race to be held this weekend. The demonstrations were put on by members of the London Canoe Club to ac- quaint people not familiar with canoe racing the orooer way to handle a canoe in a race. Bob Vincent, a director of the club, used a special rac- ing canoe to demonstrate how to handle the canoes. The canoe is much narrower than the regular canoe and is designed for racing only. At its widest point it is only a little over 24 inches across. The racing canoe is much harder to handle than the regular canoe. In racing, obstacles not normally en- countexed while canoeing are present. How to overcome these problems was the sub- ject of Mr. Vincent's demon- stration. 14 -oz Van Camps Beans 5 /99c Regular Size Bromo Seltzer 59c 64 -os Supreme Liquid Bleach 35c 32-02 Sunspun So!ad Dressing _ _ _ _ 49c Bananas 2 lbs 29c LUCKY DOLLAR FOOD MARKET ZU'Itl('H SEASONAL WORKERS REQUIRED TO PACK DELICIOUS AYLMER and DEL MONTE VEGETABLES - Male and Female - Student Applications Accepted - Work Available Until November 14 - Day or Night Shift - Transportation Arranged Contact us immediately on our Increased Wage Rate Apply in Person, or Call PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT CANADIAN CANNERS LIMITED 210 Wellington St, EXETER 235-2445
