A long line of sports was run off. Officers elected were; president, George Shiels, Hensall; vice- president, Lloyd Riley; secretary, Gwen Harburn; treasurer, Libby Harburn; sports, Bill and Gert Kellington, Don and Joyce Jack - lin; lunch, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Riley, Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Har- burn, Mr. and Mrs. Les Riley and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Riley. The 1970 reunion will be held the second Sunday in June at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Riley, R. R. 1, Cromarty. staff member of the Hay system, and Bob Meredith, an installation technician with Northern Electric. The additions to the plant cost an estimated $21,000. Calves at Hensall Spring Fair Auction Bring Top Dollar From Various Buyers The majority of the top awards at the Tuesday's Hensall Calf Club show held in conjunction with the Hensall Spring Fair went to the Passmore and Coleman families. The award for the best finish and the grand championship went,.to Paul Passmore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Passmore of Usborne Township. The reserve championship was won by John Coleman, son of Mr, and Mrs. Bill Coleman of Kippen. Placing third in the same event was a calf shown by Beth Passmore, a sister of Paul. The Coleman family was back in the limelight when a 979 pound calf owned by Les Coleman showed the most net gain of 493 pounds since it arr- ived in the area from western Canada last fall. Darlings IGA of Exeter pur- chased the grand championship calf owned by Paul Passmore for 46 cents per pound. Canada Packers of Toronto paid 46z cents per pound for John Cole- man's calf. The top price paid at the fair one year ago was 404 cents per pound with the average being 324 cents per pound. According to Bill Coleman of the Hensall Calf Club this year's average price was about 36 cents. Placing being the Passmore's calf and John Coleman in the best finish department were calves owned by Darlene Carn- ochan, Brad, Carnochan, Shirley Chalmers, Ann Morrisey and Ron Chalmers. Other area buyers purchasing calves during the sale were Al's Market, Hensall; Merner's Mark- et, Dashwuod; Denfield Livestock Sales; Ray Bell, Kippen, Hensall and Huron MP, Bob McKinley. Canada Packers of Toronto were again the big purchasers with 32 calves. In the horse show portion of the show, Pat Cornish of London was the top junior point getter and received a trophy donated by Lloyd Mousseau, A trophy furnished by Ron Swartz and George Beer was taken by Nelson Bilyea of Grant- on as the top senior performer.
