Ey
Lance J. Reed, Superintendent
It was two years ago that one
of our residents had the honour
of celebrating his 101st birthday.
This past week, another of aur
residents, .names Cottle, formerly
of Exeter, celebrated his 100th
birthday. The big day was last
Thursday, June 12.
After the birthday dinner at
the home, 1'1r. Cottle was enter-
tained by his family in Exeter.
The dinner menu for the occas-
ion was chosen by Mr. Cottle
himself, and consisted of roast
chicken and dressing, plashed
potatoes and gravy, buttered
carrots, and a chocolate cake
•spelling out the number 100.
Ivir. Cottle received many cards
and letters of congratulations as
well as three telegrams, one
each from Her Majesty, the
Queen, Primo Minister Trudeau,
and Prime Minister Robarts -
Mr. Cottle is up each day
between .0 and 7 a. m. and re-
tires at 9 p. tn. Ile walks around
the entire home and eats his
steals in the dining roost. He
has excellent hearing but at
times finds his sight gives him a
bit of difficulty. Mr. Cottle
tells the than as long as lie can
remember, he has never drank
milk, but with each steal, he
enjoys a good serving of peanut
butter on a slice of bread or
biscuit. A11 of us here at the
]tome sincerely hope that. Mr.
Cottle will enjoy continued
good health, and we all extend
best wishes to hint in the future.

in this way.

Auxiliary have been most active
in the craft roots during the past
year. Many new and exciting
items have been put to use.
Around Easter time, there was a
booming business in the labbit
department of the craft room.

Some auxiliary members and our
lady residents were kept extreme-
ly busy making stuffed rabbit
toys. These were well -made out
of plush material of assorted
colours.
Speaking of Easter, perhaps
some of our readers liave.wonder-
ed about our Easter draw. One
of our residents in particular,
worked diligently day and night
to sell tickets for the draw. As
a result, we were able to send
a cheque from the proceeds of
$100 to the Bunny Bundle for
Crippled Children. The lucky
tickets for the draw were held
by Michael llagg itt, Zurich,
Mrs. Gera Guenther, Dashwood,
Mrs. Laura Finkbeiner, Crediton,
Miss Brenda Walper, Grand
Bend.
At the present time, the poodle
department of the craft room is
in business. If you haven't
seen the finished product, make
sure you do so next time you are

There have been several
residents who have been making
scrap books out of the pictures
on used greeting cards. Recently
the honie received a letter of
appreciation to these people
for making the books and sending
them to the War Memorial
Children's Hospital in London.
We have several residents who
enjoy playing cards. Ilowever,
at times there is a little difficult
in finding enough partners or
players. If there are any readers
who would care to come down to
the home in the afternoon or
evening and join in playing
cards, they would be most wel-
come. I would be most happy
to introduce you to our card
players. We have several
residents who enjoy euchre and
a few who enjoy solo. I do
know the solo players would
enjoy outside visitors. Can you
help us out?
