Trophies Presented To Most Improved Minor Players
M!TE TROPHY—Was presented by Mrs. Ruth Decker,
president of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Zurich MAX to Roger
O'Brien.
PEEWEE TROPHY—Was presented by Donald Oke, to
Greg Love, on behalf of Donald Oke Limited.
BANTAM TROPHY —Was presented by Dr. C. J. Wallace,
to David Cyr.
Gingerichs and
Charlies Unbeaten
In Rec League Play

Rick (Turk) Turkheint knocked
in five runs with two homers,
a double and a single last Tues -
,day night in Rec League softball
as Charlies Auto Sales defeated
the Bluewater 25 to 19.
Turk's homer in the second
gave Charlies a two run -lead
which was never really threaten-
ed. llis second caste in the last
inning to help provide four
ninth inning runs.
The Bluewater smashed six runs
off Randy Decker in the first
inning who went the distance
for Charlies, according his
first win. In the second, the
Bluewater loaded the bases with
no one out, but with the good
pitching and fielding perform-
ance by Charlies put them out
three straight and left the Blue -
water with three men on base.
.Joe Durand homered in the
fourth to start things off for rhe
Bluewater, but they could only
conic up with two runs. Gerard
Ducharnte led the lakeviewers
with three singles and a double.
Larry Denonune, Johnny Corri-
veau and Steve Dcnommc each
had three hits.
Pete Regier boosted his patting
average up as he connected for
five hits. Rick Turkheint, Rick
Schilbc, Ron Desjardine, Gary
Flaxbard and pitcher, Randy
Decker each slammed out four
hits for Charles.
GINGERICII'S STAY HOT
Gingcrich Sales and Service
hopped` on Phil Overholt for
ten runs in the second inning.
The runs conic on Tony Bedard's
double and singles by Lloyd
Lostell, Gary Gingerich, Rick
Shantz and James Ranier, to
rontp,to a 39 to 10 victory over
the Barber Boys in Rec League
play Tuesday night.
The Barbers had trouble with
their pitching as they went
through three starters. Phil
Overholt, -Bob Merner and Jirn
Bedard together walked a total
of 20 batters. This was the
Barbers third setback in three
starts.
The first inning saw the Bar-
bers take a four to two lead
before Gingcrich's second inning
outburst which was never threat-
ened throughout the game as
they allowed the Barbers only
three runs in the third and one
each in the second, fourth and
fifth innings. Gingerichs held
them scoreless in the last four
innings allowing only three hits.
Clifford Cingerich, Tony
Bedard and Gerald Shantz knock-
ed homeruns for Gingerichs.
Bob Merner led the Barbers with
three hits.
Umpires for both games were
George Haggitt, Butch Sweeney,
Abbie Hoffman and Carl Coon.

High School Staff
Now Completed
Principal Joseph Wooden at
SHDHS last week announced
that all staff requirements at
the school had been met. A
total of 56 teachers will be on
the payroll beginning in Sept-
ember.
Those teachers who will be
leaving the school's employ are
Mait Edgar to be vice-principal
at Petrolia, Tim Dunn to Niag-
ara Falls; Mrs. Don Webster and
Mrs. Yearsley, both retiring;
Miss Nora Hall, studying for
her masters in social work; Roy
Stevenson, leaving for a world
tour; Mrs. Susan Milos, moving
to Vancouver with her husband;
Mrs. Margaret Connelly, to
South Secondary School in Lon-
don; Mrs. Janes, to Westminister
London; Mrs. Mitchell to Sarnia.
Open house at SHDHS will be-
gin on June 11.
NOVICE TROPHY—Was presented to Fred Mommersteeg,
by Albert Hoffman, on behalf of the Zurich Wood Products Ltd.
MIDGET TROPHY — Was presented to Randy Decker, by
Mrs. Louis Schilbe on behalf of the Hi -Fashion Beauty Salon.
JUVENILE TROPHY—On behalf of the Zurich Lions Club,
president Claire Geiger presented the trophy to winner Glenn
Gascho.
