Tax Rebate For
Farm Machinery
Used in Tillage
Operators of farm machinery
engaged in custom tillage,
harvesting, etc, in Ontario will
henceforth be able to receive
the full 18 -cent per gallon gas-
oline tax rebate for gasoline
used in custom farming oper-
ations. This information is
contained in Circular No, 5
from rhe Gasoline Tax Branch
of the Ontario Department of
Revenue, lion. John White,
Minister.
Since 1957, ail gasoline used
in custom farming operations
has been eligible for a tax re-
bate of 13 cents per gallon, the
industrial rate, unless the''gas-
oline was purchased by the
farrier for whom the service was
being performed. in that case,
the farmer was eligible for the
full 18 -cent rebate.
Circular No. 5 points out that
the original policy will continue
to apply on all applications for
tax rebate on gasoline used in
custom farming operations up to
and including March 31, 1969.
On or after April 1, 1969, under
the revised policy, gasoline con-
sumed in all farm equipment
used in the cultivation and har-
vesting of farm produce is elig-
ible for the full 18 -cent per
gallon rebate.
The new policy removees the
distinction between custom -
operated farm machinery and
farmer -operated machinery.

terrific crowd. A draw was

Grand Bend Council Approves New Rate
Structure for Commercial Water Users
Grand Bend council meeting in
special session last Monday night
approved the revised list of
water rates for commercial
properties as suggested by a rep-
resentative of the Ontario Water
Resources Commission.
Several weeks ago council had
tentatively accepted the rates
prepared by E. A. Ladbrooke of
OWRC setting a commercial
rate of $21 per month.
Under the new rates, comm-
ercial owners will pay a mini-
mum monthly rate of $10 per
month for the first 10, 000 gall-
ons of water used.
The. second 10, 000 gallons in
each month will cost an addit-
ional $8 with a further charge
of 70 cents per thousand gallons
thereafter.
Council instructed Clerk
Murray A. Des Jardins to pur-
chase 14 meters from Neptune
of Toronto to service commer-
cial establishments.
Business properties not using
water for trade with pay an
annual water rate of $50.
There will be no change from
the original rate set for domes-
tic users. Year-round Grand
Bend residents will pay $36 per
year and summer residents
will be charged $26 per annum.
Owners of summer cottages
and cabins will pay on the same
rate of $26 per summer for each
cabin and cottage in use whe-
ther for themselves or for rental.
Clerk Des Jardins was also
given permission to proceed with
arrangements to set-up office
procedure for billing and coll-
ecting on the water system.
A new ledger and card system
must be set up with names, add-
resses, lot numbers and amount
of frontage. Des Jardins will be
doing a lot survey with the help
of tax collector Griff Thomas
and Mrs. Thomas.
Mrs. Walter Crum lin will be
employed to assist the clerk
in connection with water work.
It is hoped invoices for front-
age costs will be nut to all res-
idents by July 1. Owners will
have until the end of the year to
decide if they wish to prepay
frontage costs in one lump suin
or have the costs spread over
30 years by debenture.
The rate for cash payment is
$ l per foot or 33 cents a foot
spread over a 30 -year term.
