A native of Zurich, William
FI. (Bill) O'Brien has been
appointed as manager of the
Bank of Montreal main branch
in Niagara Falls. Prior to
this appointment he has been
serving as assistant manager
at the Simcoe branch of the
same bank.
Mr. O'Brien joined the
Bank of Montreal at Zurich
in 1949, and after serving
at both St. Marys and Niagara
Falls for some time, he be-
came assistant accountant
at the It1arket Square branch
in London. Three years
later he was appointed account-
ant at a Toronto branch,
In 1963 Mr. O'Brien was
appointed assistant manager
at Belleville, and since 1965
he has held the same post
at Simcoe.
A son of Mr. and Mrs.
LeRoy Of Brien, Zurich, he
received his early education
at the Zurich Public School,
and then graduated from the
South Huron District High
School at Exeter. While he
was in Zurich he was well-
known as an outstanding
athlete, playing both base-
ball and hockey for local
teams. Along with this he
was a popular basketball
'player, and starred on high
school teams at Exeter for

son Jirn have taken up resi-
dence in Niagara Falls,
PASSES AWAY IN ILLINOIS
Word has been received of
the death of Mrs. Bertha
Gallrnan of Jacksonville,
Illinois, at the age of 87
years. She is survived by her
husband, Henry Jacob Gall -
man, and three children.
Zurich is the boyhood home
of Mr. Gallman, He is the
son of the late John and
Maggie Gallmam

The United Church Women
are holding their annual
thank offering on Sunday
evening, May 4, at 8 p.m.,
when the guest speaker will
'be Mrs. W. Tonga, a mission-
ary from Hong Kong. The
men are especially invited to
this service.
Floyd nlcAsh, of Hamilton,
spent the week end at the home
of his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
J. T. McAsh.
