Hydro Inspector Speaks at Rural -Urban
Event of Zurich. Chamber of Commerce
Bud Kuehl of Clinton, area
inspector for Ontario Hydro,
was guest speaker at the
annual Rural -Urban night
sponsored by the Zurich Cham-
ber of Commerce last Thurs-
day night, and handed out
some sound advice to both
urban and rural residents alike.
ltiir. Kuehl told the group
of about 85 that it is surpris-
ing how many homes today
are not adequately wired for
present day requirements.
At the same time he pointed
out that it is alarming how
many dangerous conditions
exist in barns today. He
urged people to contact their
electrical contractors if they
feel that their systems are
not up- to- date.
Explaining the purpose of
hydr o inspectors, Mr. Kuehl
said their duty is to protect

history of hydro, the inspect-
or said that man's knowledge
of hydro has increased
tremendously over the years,
and added, " we must try
to stand the pressures of rad-
ical changes in our time".
Mr. Kuehl predicated that
by the year 2000 everything
on a farm will be operated
by remote control equip-
ment, and said that we can
expect high rise buildings
on farms as well as in the
cities, "We already have
farms with a half-dozen
silos, using automatic feed-
ers all being worked off
hydro controls", he went on
to say. "As well, there are
now tractors on the market

which can be operated by
remote control, even though
they are about $9,.0.00 more
than the ordinary tractor",
The speaker concluded his
remarks by saying this is
what we are presently train-
ing our children for, and why
we are asking them to stay
in school and complete their
education.
Douglas Armstrong introduc-
ed the speaker, and he was
thanked by Ray McKinnon.
